Quarter Horse Racing at Remington Park
Friday and Saturday evening's races at Remington Park will be all trials for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds. Twelve trials will be run each night with the five fastest qualifiers earning a place in the starting gate for the $270,000-added Remington Park Futurity (RG2).
It will be challenge for handicappers as many of the juveniles have minimal race experience, let alone wins under their belt. Four runners on the Friday night card have broken their maiden and just two on Saturday night. It will be important to pay attention to the way the track is playing, and to some of the top conditioners, including Eddie Willis, Kasey Willis, Clinton Crawford and Brian Muse. Current leading riders include Ivan Carnero, Augustin Silva, Cody Smith and Daniel Torres.

On Sunday afternoon, the handicapping will be more formful for 3-year-olds in trials for the $130,0-added Remington Park Derby.
Regard With Respect and Bye Byefreighttrain are among the 58 Oklahoma-bred sophomores entered in Sunday’s Remington Park Derby (RG3) trials at Remington Park.
Regard With Respect has earned $488,912 from just five starts, and his three wins include a neck victory at odds of 17-1 in last year’s 330-yard, $827,000 Remington Park Futurity (RG3). Regard With Respect will be ridden by Jesus Salazar from post 4 in the first of six trials.
Bye Bye Freighttrain won four of eight starts and banked $112,401 during his 2-year-old campaign, and his season resume included a neck victory in the November 14, $173,000 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs. The son of Freighttrain B will be ridden by Cesar Gomez for trainer Kasey Willis in the second heat.
A Tres Of Paint will face Oklahoma-breds after a 2-year-old season in which the filly by Tres Seis qualified to the 400-yard, $1.152-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park, and the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. Trained by Charles Shults, A Tres Of Paint will be ridden by Ivan Carnero from post 6 in the third trial.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return on Saturday, April 23 for both the Remington Park Futurity and Derby final.
