Quartet Of Simpsons For Sophs At Philadelphia

Harrah’s Philadelphia attracts Breeders Crown competitors for their Friday, Oct.14 card, which features two divisions of the $80,000 John Simpson Memorial for both three-year-old trotting fillies and three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.

The opening division for the fillies features Maker A Yankee, Lookin Sharp, Goosebump Hanover, and Coco Truffles, all of whom are staked to the Breeders Crown.

Aside from them, Turn The Paige could offer value inflated by Goosebump Hanover, who enters from a fourth-place finish in the Bluegrass Stakes. Maker A Yankee also shows a promising price, but appears to be a stronger exotic play in this field.

Southwind Hope and Open Access are the lone eligibles in the second division.

With the form of the field lacking consistency, this division appears to set up for a possible upset. Jazebel De Vie could be the prospect that sparks it, having raced in a few major stakes earlier in the season. But she also enters off of sneakily good efforts from Freehold that will likely be tossed in favor of Southwind Hope’s class or Hot Curry’s post.

Division one for the colts pins Dayson, who is ineligible to the “Crown,” against hopefuls Lima Cadillac and Muscles On Fire. Likely to be the favorite, Dayson will not be a price worth playing. Lima Cadillac will be a good price. He’ll be a price that is raised because of Dayson and also because the public will probably take the break in his last start too harshly instead of excusing him and recognizing the talent he has shown against similar competition.

The other trotting colt split gathers eligibles Alexander Hanover, Tight Lines, Hititoutofthepark and Dog Gone Lucky.

Considering Cufflink Hanover should go off an odds-on choice, Tight Lines should be the value. He outclasses the majority of this field, and draws a post that will suit his forwardly placed racing style.
