Remington Park Stakes Plays for Friday, October 16

Horses bred in the Sooner State will take over the 10-race card at Remington Park on Friday evening during Oklahoma Classics night.
Race 5 – Distaff Turf S.
A well-matched field of nine will run 1 1/16 miles on the lawn in the affair. It’s difficult to look past #5 Talkin Cadee (5-2), who has won two of her last three on the course and also missed by a neck when second in the race last campaign. The Scott Young pupil will be moving best of all late with regular pilot Fernando Jara on board.
Race 6 – Distaff Sprint S.
Eight fillies and mares will speed six panels on the dirt, and I’ll go with #3 Lanaluah (8-1) for conditioner Austin Gustafson. The late-running Beau Liam filly moves back to the main oval after a turf experiment last time, and I feel that there is enough early speed to aid her solid late kick, with Ramon Vazquez taking the reins. The sophomore will be the right price, too.
Race 8 – Classic Sprint S.
The boys will travel six furlongs on the main oval in arguably the deepest field of the evening with 11 signed on. Defending champ #10 Breakable Code (7-2) was second in the heat in 2024 prior to winning this race in 2025, and I like his chances to run a big one once again for Joe Offolter. The Code West six-year-old sports a fine 9-6-1-0 mark at Remington and will have a clear voyage throughout from the outside post. David Cabrera will be in the stirrups.
Race 10 – Turf Classic H.
Seven will vie in the finale with a nice group set to go postward in the 1 1/16-mile turf tilt. I feel that #3 Escaping the Blues (9-2) offers the best value in the event with Jara riding. The three-time local winner from the Bravo shedrow is a multiple stakes victor at this venue, and he fell just a length short in the race in 2025. The Excaper gelding could peak in his third performance off the layoff for Francisco Bravo.
