Rolling Double bonuses spice Wednesday cards at Louisiana, Evangeline

May 30th, 2017

If you're looking for a few extra bucks to play with down the road, consider TwinSpires.com's 20% Double Bonus at Louisiana Downs and 15% Rolling Double Bonus at Evangeline Downs.

Monday-Wednesday at Louisiana Downs and every day of the Evangeline meet (Wednesday-Saturday through September 2), TwinSpires players can opt in and be eligible for a bonus of 20% at Louisiana Downs and 15% at Evangeline Downs (up to $500 daily at both tracks) on the gross winnings of all successful Double bets, the minimum of which is $1 for each combination.

Here are Double sequences I'll be looking at for both tracks on Wednesday:

Louisiana Downs (Races 6-7)

Morning line favorite Here's Bob (#5, 9-5) has won six of seven over this track and should be coming late with his customary rally, but there's a chance Blue Choice (#4, 5-1) could steal another after his win earlier this month against $5,000 company. The other speed breaking to his inside are either coming off a layoff or showed flash in recent routes, which is a different ballgame. I'm also including Retrofit (#6, 6-1) who fired well off the bench here last summer off a similar break and runs for a tag for only the third time in his career.

In the second leg, I'll key Shda Binn Discreet (#9, 3-1), who's generally thrived on this turf course when he hasn't been asked to face allowance types. He should move up dropping back into claiming company in the second race of his form cycle.

Evangeline Downs (Races 7-8)

The key comes in the first leg as Fee Waiver (#8, 5-1) drops in class to a more appropriate level. A good fourth two back when facing at least two next-out winners, he has some tactical foot in a race without a whole lot of pace.

In contrast, there's a lot of heat in the eighth race. Prada's Bling (#6, 9-5) has zip, but could sit right behind the speed breaking to her inside and pounce as she did two back at Lone Star. However, a bit surprised the Broberg stable is willing to lose her for $15,000 after a narrow beat in an N2X allowance 11 days ago. The lightly-raced Rachael's Kiss (#8, 8-1) may have been a tad short in her comeback where she also encountered a bit of trouble. Needs improvement, but best might be ahead.

Remember that even if your Double(s) don't come in, you can still earn 30X points every Wednesday when you wager $10 or more on any race at Evangeline Downs and fail to cash a ticket.
