Round 3 of 2016 $50,000 Orange Park Derby Monday evening October 31st, 2016
Race 7 – Trying for the 3 peat, Kiss This looks like a solid choice once again in this effort. Posted well inside, she should be unabated to the rail and the lead once again in this effort. After she takes the top spot, she is tough to run down, but she has a superior group of closers that might just be up to the task. I expect Pat C Fracking to push the pace throughout in this effort, but in the deep stretch is where it is going to get interesting. Super closers Lee Sally and Island Magic both have the tools to pick up almost anyone at the racetrack late and tonight they could surprise the undefeated frontrunner. If they come out closer early on, they have a chance to be a longshot winner tonight. (2-1-7-3)Race 10 – The best greyhound at the racetrack over 660 gets another chance to prove it here in the quarter-finals. All-American Seldom Told has won 6 races in a row, 5 in a row over 660, and 13 of his last 14 starts. Over the added route he has been dominating fields and gets the 8 box to boot in this one. On the lead or from off the pace he can get it done. Expect another big-time effort and win from him tonight. Next best will be the second-round winner Blutoocapncrunch. This closer has not missed the quiniela in 6 straight races and has enough late speed to come on home and battle in the stretch. Both might have to catch the inside part of the racetrack just to get the job done. Gs Hal and Atascocita Sully both have good early foot and either could see the front end at the start of this race. Both have been short late and will be again in this effort. Both like the posts and should be a threat early on tonight. (8-4-1-2)
Race 12 – Fast as fast can be, Barts Risingstar needs another big-time effort to get closer to the goal, the finals. This super closer can come from way, way, way back and win races, but can on occasion break and destroy fields, i.e. see round 1. Here from the rough 5 box, for the third time in a row, he needs to clear better early, so that he can take home the win at the wire. Trying to ruin his plans will be a talented field of greyhounds who are so slouches themselves. Lee Trinity has just missed in back to back races and is probably happy to not only get the one box, but to get away from the monster Seldom Told. Pat C Dashboard also has finished in the money in both rounds, and 5 of his last 6 starts, and will break well and be a threat throughout in this one. Don’t sleep of C Ville Hope either. This greyhound is better than her lines show and could be an extra tough out if she can get out of the box in a hurry in this effort. (5-1-4-6)
Race 15 – The third undefeated greyhound, and the most experienced of the bunch, KK Whitezin, heads to post here and looks to keep the mojo going strong. This returning finalists, and the finalist in the 2016 bestbet Derby, is poised to post up yet another win in the rounds. She must overcome some stuff to keep the record perfect though. She is in a tough 5 box, she is in with no early speed and only closers, and she will need to find room early to get the job done. Experience plays a vital role in this effort. She does what needs to be done to win. Pushing her early and often should be Skiddy Flicker. This greyhound won 4 straight races before the rounds, and just missed in her last two starts. Easi Turner could throw his hat into the ring as well. Coming off a big win last time out and 3 straight quiniela bid, he too could be a factor, and don’t sleep on the track record holder either. Herstal got up late last time out and stole the win away late look to do it again from an advantageous post position tonight. (5-7-4-1)
Remember that the field will be trimmed down even further for the semi-finals, just 3 races will remain, that will run on Saturday evening November 5th at bestbet Jacksonville.
