Monday evening February 27th, 2017
Round 3 of $50,000 James J Patton Silver Cup
Race 7 – Surprise time in the 7th as I’m taking a flyer. LOL! Pat C Outbounds has been stuck outside for the longest time and finally gets back to the rail in this effort. This greyhound can run 550, remember she has a puppy stakes win, and should find her break here from one of her favorite posts. In a field with not all that much early speed, she will be too close too early and find a way to steal a win. Challenging throughout will be the other stakes winner in the mix, Easi Charlie. Charlie is hot off a win and just missing by a nose in round number 1. Her stalking closing style plays well with a favorable midtrack post position. If Outbounds falters, Charlie will win this effort. Others to consider her as the greyhound that just go about their business and find a way into the money in almost every start. Ww Speed Train and Kanes Mini both can closer and both have not missed the superfecta in 6 straight races. More of the same tonight! (1-4-3-5)
Race 9 – Might just be the easiest of the remaining races, but still talent lurks at every turn. After that impressive almost 8 length win last time out it is hard to pick against Wiki Jax Attack. Sure, there was trouble behind, but he has to get to the lead in order to take advantage of it. All he needs to do is break, and it is going to be back to back wins, as he is extra tough on the early lead. Pushing him throughout will be the always threatening runner Boc’s Andross. With back to back places, and 6 races in a row in the money, you know she will be a threat, but a W might just be needed to make the finals. If she gets the planets aligned early, tonight could be her night. Pat C Cozy also gets a look. Forget the last race, she had nowhere to go and was in a world of trouble in the 1st turn. She was about to take the lead, before all the chaos ensued. Look before that. A solid break, a good rush, and 5 straight trips in the trifecta. Winning might be tough, but another strong effort in the money is easily within reach. Don’t forget Ww’s Marsala either. This pup can come on with the best of them and gets a good outside post way from the crowd tonight. Look for her late in this effort as she tries to make it into the money in her 4th straight and her 6th in her last 7 efforts. (3-7-5-8)
Race 10 – Rebound time for Real Good Feelin from the 1 box. She was in a mess last time out and almost fell at the turn, and still rallied for 4th. She is as fast as she wants to be and will be the one to beat in this effort. With, or without the early lead, she will find a way to get it done in this effort. This is one race and I think they are going to have a hard time keeping up. The other greyhounds to consider here include the first-round winner, and another greyhound that got into serious trouble in his second-round race, Kc’s Todd. A good breaker and laster on the lead, he needs to make a strong statement early on if he wants a chance to finish in the money tonight. Bonus for him is the post as his last effort from here as an impressive 5 length win in 30.59 seconds. Former Puppy stakes champ Pullanallnighter will need to bring her break as well if she things about having a shot to pull off the upset in this effort. She can be short late on occasion and will need every inch she can steal early on. Post might be her only hurdle here. Last, but not least, the track record holder, Kmz Kraken. This slow breaker can close with the best of them, and that is most likely what she is going to be doing during this race. If she ever remembers how to break, she could win this race hands down. She is faster that anyone at the racetrack, she just needs time to get those gears shifted. A long way from the rail tonight, she will need help here if she wants to take home those 19 points. (1-7-2-6)
Race 11 – Only one greyhound remains undefeated and that is Ln Michaels. A huge early speed greyhound, Michaels has taken control of the race from almost the start in both rounds. He has is tough on the lead, but can be caught from behind if you get to him before he lines up his muzzle for the wire. In this tough race, including 4 other round winners and two other greyhounds that have not finished out of the trifecta, he is going to have to bring his A game once again. The funny part is that he might not even see the front end. Godzilla Who is at home in the 8 box and might just be the best early speeder in the bunch when he wants to break. He too is short and it will cost him for the third straight effort. Puppy Js Armdndangerus is another talented early speed runner that can dominate fields on the front end. Hot off a win last time out, he has enough talent to take down the leaders late if need be. He can go with or without the lead and might be the biggest threat to any of them to win this effort. The post is not the best, but if he breaks, it won’t matter that much. Watch out for Ww Next Bigthing too. This greyhound might just have a few starts, but he is growing up right before our eyes. His last effort was a 5-length win in the fastest time on the card, 30.53 seconds, and that didn’t even come from the 1 box that he has in this race. He has gears to burn late, but the lack of consistency is the biggest red flag for him right now. If he can get around the leaders early on, he will be a big piece of this puzzle at the wire. (6-8-5-1)
