Santa Anita $94,233 Pick 6 Carryover - January 20, 2014
Race 1 Post Time: 3:30 pm ET
Race 4 Post Time: 5:01 pm ET
Holiday racing on Monday at Santa Anita and there is a Pick 6 carryover of $94,233, which starts in race four, a maiden special weight going one mile on the turf.
Race 4: BIG MEDICINE MAN and BURY PACER are likely to be on all pick-6 tickets, but don't dismiss CLOSET E, CRONUT and COWTOWNMARY. PANTERA ROJO is another contender at likely overlaid odds.
Race 5: After one race against tougher, ZUBOFF is back at the same level of his win two starts back and is a must use. He is not a single; however, as this will be his first start on conventional dirt. HALF DOME DUDE, on the other hand, has had success over the Santa Anita main track and is a solid 9-2 on the morning line. Others to consider are SAMMY'S A RUNNIN', SENATOR BOB and DUNMORE EAST.
Race 6: This down the hill race is hard to handicap and some big tickets may even decide to hit the "all" button. Smaller tickets will use INSIDEONDOUTSIDE, KOAST and DIXIELAND BLUES.
Race 7: YANA looks ready to break her maiden in career start number three for the trainer/jockey team of Bill Spawr and Mike Smith. Yana ran a winning race last time, but could not hold off winner late. CAPERS N WINE looks second best and should get a nice stalking trip from the outside.
Race 8: Another wide open race on the hillside turf course and contention runs deep. If race six was tough, this race is difficult. Last out winners include PULLA TRAIN, CANDY'S SUNRISE and ELUSIVE JOURNEY; CRIMSON GIANT, MR. ORNERY, PULPIT'S EXPRESS, WAITWAITDONTTELLME and BRO'S BRO are all coming off second or third place finishes.
Race 9: Not an easy way to end the day so going to land on long shot YESTERDAY SINGS. It looks like she got a good education first out and both the winner and third place finisher in that race came back to win. Slight drop in class and all systems go. PERCHED exits the same race while KATY'S PLUM runs for connections that like to drop a dollar or two on their runners.
