President's Day racing at Santa Anita just got a little more exciting with a carryover of over $119,000 in the pick-6. The sequence starts in race four, an allowance/optional claimer for horses bred in California.

Race 4: JET WARRIOR has won his first two starts on two different surface and looks for three straight on three surfaces in the pick-6 opener. TOLEDO EDDIE looks the danger.

Race 5: BEVERLY THE BOSS is running for the third time in her career, first time on turf, and can get the job done from on or near the pace. LA SORELLA and TAYLOR LANE are both making their second career start and both have already run on the downhill turf course.

Race 6: IPOLITA is ready to win after finishing second against open maiden claimers last month. Even though she couldn't hold off the winner, IPOLITA finished nearly three lengths clear of the show filly. WARRENSPOWEROFLOVE drops from a state-bred maiden special weight race and finished second at the level of today's race in her debut. Now trained by Peter Miller, GISELE AT FONZ'S also drops in class for her first run since June 2013 when she was in the Tom Proctor barn. Proctor is not known for winning with his first-time-starters, but GISELE AT FONZ'S was the even money favorite for her debut last year.

Race 7: The feature Buena Vista Handicap looks like a good one between one gutty mare, one trying to replicate her form around two turns and one East coast shipper. EGG DROP was a determined winner of the Grade 1 Matriarch in December at Hollywood Park and has won her last three by a nose and two heads. PONTCHATRAIN has won her last three starts, each of them down the hill. She has run twice around two turns with one win and one fourth. TAPICAT is a Grade 3 winner for Bill Mott, running the majority of her races in Florida and New York. Her Grade 3 was in the Florida Oaks on the turf at Tampa Bay in 2013 and she is coming off a small stakes win at Gulfstream Park on New Year's day. STORMY LUCY and CUSTOMER BASE and interesting as it does appear the race is loaded with speed.

Race 8: Most of the race eight entrants have done their best running on synthetics so going to roll with WONDERFUL LIE, who broke her maiden in the debut four weeks ago over the Santa Anita track. MEINERTZHAGENI and ROVENA are the morning line favorites; MEINERTZHAGENI was beat 12 lengths the one time she finished a dirt race while ROVENA broke her maiden over the Calder dirt then was third, beat five and one-half lengths, at Santa Anita in November.

Race 9: This race is ridiculous and can go a number of different ways so let's look at runners with wins over the course. CARBONITE, SHAME ON ALEX, DEPRECIABLE, DIXIELAND BLUES and KINGPIN RYNO all have wins over the Santa Anita turf and the handicapping should start with them. If it can be afforded, this is an "all" type of race.
