Sarah Sis hoping to rebound in Bayakoa

The Sharp Humor filly began her 2015 sophomore season at that Hot Springs, Arkansas, oval and proceeded to closely place in both the Dixie Belle and Martha Washington before recording a nice win in the Honeybee (G3).
Sarah Sis would go on to be fifth in the Fantasy (G3) in her final three-year-old start at Oaklawn but on Sunday will attempt a return to that track’s winner’s circle in the $100,000 Bayakoa (G3).
Trained by Ingrid Mason, the dark bay lass already made her four-year-old bow at Oaklawn when missing by just a neck in the American Beauty on January 23. Sarah Sis has been working over the track ever since New Year’s Eve and recorded a half-mile move in :51.80 last Wednesday to ready for the Bayakoa.
Julio Felix was aboard for the American Beauty and retains the mount on Sarah Sis as she takes on Streamline Sunday.
That Brian Williamson-trained filly is riding a three-race win streak that began last November at Hawthorne. Streamline captured an allowance/optional claimer on the turf by three lengths and then romped by 15 lengths while making her dirt debut in a starter allowance to conclude her sophomore campaign.
The dark bay daughter of Straight Line returned a month later to rally for a neck score in the January 17 Pippin at Oaklawn in her four-year-old season opener. Streamline had Chris Landeros aboard on that occasion and keeps him in the irons as she seeks a second straight Oaklawn stakes victory.
Call Pat triumphed in the Groupie Doll (G3) at Ellis Park before closing out her 2015 campaign with third-place runs in the Turnback the Alarm H. (G3) and Falls City H. (G2). The Brad Cox-conditioned mare has been working at Oaklawn since New Year’s Eve and gets the services of jockey Joseph Rocco Jr. on Sunday.
Stakes winner Meshell made her four-year-old debut in the American Beauty and ended up 3 1/4 lengths behind Sarah Sis in third. That was her first race back since posting a neck victory in the Fort Springs at Keeneland on October 31, so the Jeffery Lynn pupil is eligible for improvement in her second start following the layoff. Christopher Emigh has the return call.
Tosha Talifero finally earned some black-type credit when third in the Pippin two back after a pair of fifths in her only other two stakes tries last year. The four-year-old bay then came back just 12 days later to fill the show spot again behind Ribbon of Darkness in an allowance/optional claimer on January 29.
The Bayakoa field is completed by stakes debuter Cowgirl in Love as well as Ribbon of Darkness, Cabana and Pearl Turn – who were sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively in the Pippin.
