Saratoga: Spot Plays for June 6, 2025

Weather and track conditions for Friday's blockbuster card at Saratoga remain uncertain at this writing, but the hope is that the following horses of interest will be suited by a dry or wet main track.
Race 2: Maiden, 12:16 p.m. ET
Although open to older, this seven-furlong test is comprised exclusively of three-year-old fillies, and with a surprisingly large number of late bloomers making their initial racetrack appearances.
#5 All Night Revival (12-1) is the most experienced of the bunch, which generally isn't a great quality to have in races like these. However, she knocked heads last season with some nice fillies, including a pair (May Day Ready and Laurelin) entered in the Wonder Again (G2) on Saturday.
A fascinating broodmare prospect some day, All Night Revival hails from a family full of Grade/Group 1 performers on both sides of the Atlantic, including dirt stars Stay Thirsty and Tamarkuz. I'm drawing a line through her sub-par try at Fair Grounds in late March, thinking she might prove to be more effective on dirt than on turf for the generally dangerous Cherie DeVaux barn.
Race 5: Allowance, 2:04 p.m. ET
#7 Dreamlike (9-2) showed plenty of promise at three, narrowly missing in both the Wood Memorial (G2) (as a maiden) and Pennsylvania Derby (G1). However, his four-year-old campaign never really got rolling as it prematurely ended following a dull run in the Stephen Foster (G1).
This term started even worse, but that run to shake off the rust came over the synthetic at Gulfstream. He's back on more familiar footing here, and he'd likely prove even more dangerous if there's moisture in the ground.
Race 9: Ogden Phipps (G1), 4:28 p.m. ET
#7 Randomized (9-2) appears to be the forgotten horse coming into this, which is strange, given she won this last year in wire-to-wire fashion over dual champion Idiomatic. Her subsequent finish in the Personal Ensign (G1) is excusable due to a poor start, and she undoubtedly needed her comeback in the La Troienne (G1), which she didn't lose by much.
Her post here is not ideal as she might be forced to be too quick early to secure position, but on the flip side, her back class and fondness for this strip will make her tough to run down if she indeed comes on from her season debut.

Join us on June 7 for a rematch that will shake the stands. Many top Kentucky Derby contenders return for the Belmont S. (G1) to fight for the finish, including Journalism, winner of Preakness 150, and Sovereignty, winner of Derby 151. Who will stand in the winner's circle for Belmont?
