Semi-Finals of 2017 $50,000 James J Patton Silver Cup

Saturday evening March 4th, 2017

Race 7 – Puppy Power in this race as Js Armdndangerus is ready for the next level of competition. Always close in all three rounds, you know never out of the trifecta including a win, a place, and a show by less than a length, this greyhound has enough early to get close and doesn’t just give up the ghost in the stretch either. This one will be highly contested and it will take a big effort to get the job done. Working for him is the post position, as he has run his best races from the outside part of the racetrack. Look for a quick start and for him to find a way to win at the wire. If he wants that W and the 19 points he is going to have to deal with the resurging puppy stakes winner Pullanallnighter. Looking like a younger picture of herself in her last effort, Allnighter found her break, stole away a lead, and never looked back. Running the quickest time on the card, she proved she is a force again, but might need the top spot if she wants a chance to make the finals. The post is right, can she PULL off the upset in back to back races? We will see! Another strong competitor here will be the 660 Holiday Stakes winner Easi Charlie. Charlie can run both distances and dominate, but she is much more of a closer over the shorter course. She ran tough in rounds 1 and two and easily could have been undefeated, but her trouble ridden round 3 effort was a disappointing finish. She needs all the points she can muster in this effort, so a big break will be needed if she wants a chance to move on. Don’t forget about Ww Next Bigthing wither. This greyhound has been coming hard late in each start in the stakes and is really growing up right before our eyes. In round 2 he had the quickest time on the card and can really do some damage when he gets loose with some room to run. His biggest hurdle in this effort will be the tough 5 box that he must start from here, but if he comes out quickly, he could put up another gem just in time for the finals. (7-2-6-5)

Race 9 – Wake up time for Real Good Feelin tonight. This greyhound has had the worst luck of anyone so far in the rounds and still she has a chance to move on to the finals. With back to back races with big time trouble, she needs to break better and stay clear of the mess at the turn tonight. The outside post will go a long way to help her out in this one. She is as fast as she wants to be and is the best of the third Need A Date litter, the other two just happen to be All-Americans Need My Moneynow and All-American Team Captain Seldom Told. She will find a way to be back on top at the wire and start off a new quiniela streak in this one. Pushing the early pace will most likely be Boc’s Andross. In all three rounds, she has been a force on the front end, but in each she came away without a big-time W. She has finished 2nd in three straight trips and two of those were by a neck and a nose. She clearly has the skills to be in the mix at the wire again in this effort, but winning does not happen that often. Look at her last 10 races in a row where she has never finished worse than 4th, but has only won twice. Posted well on the inside part of the racetrack, she finds a way to compete throughout once again. Lee Raven has found her closing speed and might need some luck here again if she wants to score at the finish. After getting into trouble in round 1, she missed it in the next two and scored a win and a place in those efforts. She can break on occasion too and is really a tough out if she wants to go in any effort. Post here is a big-time question mark as she is going to be hard pressed to get a clean run through the turn from the 5 box. Breaking fast might be her only chance to succeed, so don’t rule that out in this effort. Stakes winners find ways to finals and that might just be what Pat C Outbounds does in this effort. This puppy stakes champ has not missed the money in 3 straight, but has not recorded a win either. Closing is her best attribute over the shorter course and that is where she will do her damage once again in this effort. She needs to break better if she wants to win and will need a victory to have a shot at the finals. The 4 box is not ideal, but you never know! (8-2-5-4)

Race 11 – Tough to go against a greyhound that has yet to lose in the stakes, so we will keep riding him here. Ln Michaels has blazing early speed and has dominated each of the rounds on the front end. Once his nose is in front he is extra tough to run down, and even though his leads have shrunk on occasion, he has never really been threatened in any of his qualifying efforts. His last race was the closest, he won by only a length, but gave such a determined stretch run that you felt he had the victory in his pocket the whole time. Here from another advantageous post position, he will battle early for the lead, take it over at some point, and hold all the way through the wire for the win. Speaking of breaking and early speed, we have a dynamic duo here that can really get after it at the start. Kiowa Pinot Noir and Godzilla Who both have great breaking skills and should been challenging each other for the front end at the start of this effort. Both can be caught on the lead though and each would need some help behind if they are going to pull off the upset in this effort. The post position doesn’t really matter that much if they break, and I expect them to do just that tonight. Each will give their all, and run for as long as they can, but I think it will just not be enough to get a W in this one. All the greyhounds better be wary of Ww’s Marsal at the end of this race. This big time closer is hot off a win last time out and might just be running the best of her young career in the rounds. She can come one with the best of them in the stretch and should get room to run as the early speed duo sits inside of her in this effort. She will make her presence known in the stretch and could challenge for a spot higher up the food chain at the wire if all goes well for her in this effort. (2-4-6-3)
