Smile Happy, White Abarrio top individual interests in Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 3

Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) will open its three-day run on Friday, and top individuals among the 24 betting interests include unbeaten Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) winner Smile Happy (#21) and recent Holy Bull (G3) scorer White Barrio (#22).
Both three-year-olds have been pegged at 8-1 on the morning line by Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia.
Of course, the pari-mutuel field of “All Other 3-Year-Olds” (#24) is expected to go favored, installed as the early 5-2 choice.
Bettors can place win and exacta wagers at simulcast outlets throughout the country and online at TwinSpires.com, the official ADW of Churchill Downs Incorporated. Pool 3 opens at noon (ET) Friday and closes at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Eight new individual interests have been added: Barber Road (#1), Call Me Midnight (#2), Early Voting (#6), Forbidden Kingdom (#9), God of Love (#10), Happy Boy Rocket (#11), Howling Time (#12), and In Due Time (#13).
Smile Happy, who is scheduled to open 2022 in the Feb. 19 Risen Star (G2) at Fair Grounds, closed as the 8-1 individual in Pools 1 and 2.
Five KDFW pools will be offered, and combined handle for the first two KDFW pools was $687,657, up 20.4% from last year’s $571,366.
Pool 4 runs March 11-13, and Pool 5 is March 31-April 2. The lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager will coincide with Pool 4 of the KDFW.
There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week’s three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.
