Super Stakes Saturday, Aug. 20, at Pocono Downs draws the sophomore filly pacing division for the $150,000 Valley Forge Consolation and the $350,000 Valley Forge Final.
Skinny Dipper, who has raced on the Grand Circuit and in the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, while the rest of the field has competed in The Stallion Series, headlines the Valley Forge Consolation. Also entering this field is Topville Cadillac, coming from the Indiana Sires Stakes. Together, the public should go bonkers and support these two heavily
Despite the class disparity, the consolation is a leveled race in terms of form and could provide a huge payoff because of it. Two fillies, Graceful Vision and Square Dancer, could provide that huge payoffs. Both show ability to race off the trademarked Pocono-pocket trip but Graceful Vision will likely be the lower price of the two.
The Valley Forge final is a rematch of the James Lynch Memorial. Pure Country, the probable favorite after a stint racing against the boys, is in a disposition starting from post 9, while her rival Darlinonthebeach draws better and appears to be returning to the form she displayed prior to a health issue. Blue Moon Stride, also drawing to the outside, could be the best price of the top three fillies and could also be value.
Darlinonthebeach’s stable mate, JK Fannie, has the potential to race with the big three. Interfered by her stable mate in the James Lynch and taken out of the race, she has since finished second in the Miss New Jersey to Blue Moon Stride. If anything, she can be in the exotics at a big price, but if she can sit off of chaotic circumstances, she has a shot to win.
