Southland crowns COUNSELOR as the 2015 $20,000 HOUND MADNESS winner

The 2015 SOUTHLAND HOUND MADNESS STAKES is in the books and what an amazing final race it was as COUNSELOR comes from five lengths behind to overtake CHASMO'S DIESEL for the title. With Chasmo's Diesel going right to the front on the break, it took Counselor awhile to get rolling but when he did, it was poetry in motion. Counselor was moving strongly around the far turn and as both extremely talented greyhounds headed down the stretch, it was clear Counselor had taken control of the race and he crossed the finish line with a two and a half length win. Take nothing away from Chasmo's Diesel, he gave it his all, keep in mind he did win the 2014 Southland Juvenile Stakes championship, a race in which Counselor ran third. In this stakes contest of 6 rounds, he had 2 wins and 4 second place finishes. Counselor in the 6 rounds started with 2 third place finishes and then reels off 4 straight wins. Both of these greyhounds are on track to be strong contenders for the 2015 Greyhound All-American teams but on this night though, COUNSELOR takes home the big prize with a sizzling late dash and is the 2015 SOUTHLAND $20,000 HOUND MADNESS STAKES champion.
