SOUTHLAND - Five up & coming young greyhounds to watch for May
Welcome to another Southland monthly preview of the Five Up & Coming Young Greyhounds To Watch. May's selections consist of several hard running youngsters that have started their careers with some impressive wins and strong finishes. As many of our regular readers probably know, the only requirement that I use in selecting the 5 up and coming young greyhounds to watch each month is that they have had no more then 10 official starts prior to being selected. I try to give updates on the progress of these selections every few months so be sure to check back for those. I will have a recap of the past few months choices in a week or so, be sure to check back for that. Thanks for reading and good luck with your wagering opportunities. Please remember that BetAmerica is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about wagering online.
CTW GAVIN DEGRAW - Grade M - 1 start - 0-0-1-0 - He's a newcomer from the Birmingham track where he looked impressive in a couple of schooling wins and in his first official start at Southland ran 3rd despite being blocked on the 1st turn. Let's see what he does over the next couple of months but I'm thinking he's going to do just fine at his new track.
Next race - Wednesday, May 4 - 6th race - runs from the 7 box
CTW SHADOWHUNTER - Grade B - 6 starts - 3-1-1-1 - He had two starts at Wheeling prior to coming to Southland and ran 1st and 2nd in them, since arriving in West Memphis he's continue his hot streak by winning two more times and having a 3rd and 4th place finish. Tons of early speed, nice strong rush and is capable of a good closing run down the stretch. A definite greyhound to keep an eye on in the coming months, has plenty of potential. Next race - Wednesday, May 4 - 14th race - runs from the 4 box
L'S DIGITYDOG - Grade TC - 8 starts - 2-2-3-0 - Lots of good things to like about this greyhound and I'll start with consistency as he is 7 out of 8 in the money in his very young career and that already includes 2 wins. Has shown a lot of potential and was entered and is presently running in Round 4 of the 2016 Southland Spring Futurity Stakes competition and showing heart and determination as he goes against some talented greyhounds. Doesn't possess a lot of early speed but a strong rush to the turn and a solid late move will put him in the chase more often then not. Next race - Sunday, May 1 - 6th race - runs from the 7 box
MOLLY OF RUCKUS - Grade D - 3 starts - 1-0-1-0 - She's shown to be full of running ability in just 3 races having won and gotten a solid third place effort. Has a mid-track running style with good early speed and rush and can come behind as well. Looks to have plenty of talent and she's one to watch in my opinion. Always seems to be in the chase down the stretch so keep her in mind. Next race - Sunday, May 1 - 5th race -runs from the 7 box
VJ GRACE THE ACE - Grade M - 0 starts - 0-0-0-0- She has only had two schooling contests so there's not much to go on but I do like the effort she has put forth in both of them. Looks like she will have a good bit of early speed and a late kick down the stretch which should bode well for her in the future. Likes the inside and was pulling away in both schooling races so for me, well worth watching as she gains more experience with each race. Next race - Sunday, May 1 - 3rd race - runs from the 8 box
