SOUTHLAND - Friday, April15
Here are the Thursday results of this week's study of the morning line picks at Southland and I have recapped them below. As previously stated, this week MoneyMaker Mike is taking a look at different handicapping styles and I figured we would start with the morning line picks found at the bottom of each of the daily Southland programs. Thursday's races were the 2nd of the 7 performances which run thru Sunday and I will update the results daily and then have an overall recap on Monday on our study. Friday and Saturday there will be both a matinee and evening performance and we will end this short study after the races on Sunday. I had been discussing the different handicapping methods with some long time greyhound fans recently and several of them brought up the morning line picks put out by each track. Since I do the Southland blog I figured it would be interesting to see how the West Memphis track would do if using the program's picks. This is an unscientific study for sure but it should be entertaining to do and may give the greyhound fan, whether a novice or long time gambler or somewhere in between, a different perspective on picking the dogs.
There were 18 races on the program for the Thursday greyhound card and of those races, the results show the morning line selections had 2 winners outright and included 7 quinielas and exactas playing a four dog box. Two of the exactas were the top two on the morning line and came in the 6th and 18th races. The key dog on the morning line in each race finished in the top 3 in nine of the eighteen races with 2 winners, 5 place finishes and 2 show finishes on Thursday. The 2 winners came in the 1st and 7th races. Of the 7 quinielas hit, 2 of them were the morning line top two dogs for those races which were the 6th and 18th races. The trifecta hit was in the 6th race and was in the 4 dog box. There weren't any superfectas hit using the four dog box on the card. While it would have nice to see a few more winners The results weren't as good as Wednesday's morning line picks turned out to be but having 9 key dogs in the money is workable.
Thanks for reading and good luck with your wagers.
