Southland - Friday, February 19
Welcome to another Friday evening program of highly entertaining and exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 races on tap on the card for your viewing and wagering pleasure. This week MoneyMaker Mike has been selecting several races that stand out as good opportunities for some longshots to have nice money finishes and and I've listed these races below for greyhound fans and racing fans in general to check out. I will continue with these upset specials thru Sunday and then give a recap on how the picks turned out. Thanks for reading and good luck with your wagers.
Race 2 - 660 yards - Grade B - CTW JOLLY ROGERS - box 7 - He is overdue for a win and may be overlooked by the betting public after encountering some trouble in several of his recent races. I have to consider him a solid threat here, especially being in Grade B. He's a mid-track runner who could go early and challenge for the lead and who is coming off a nice effort last time out, running 3rd and only a length off the winner from the same 7 box he has here.
Race 4 - 583 yards - Grade M - PJ KEEP IT REAL - box 7 - Let's give him a shot here since he's a wide runner and has only drawn the 6/7/8 post positions 3 times out of 15 career races. With his post position here it may be just the edge he needs. He has shown some early foot and if he could get around the turn in decent shape he could be the surprise of the evening.
Race 8 - 583 yards - Grade D - PJ TIME TO GO - box 1 - He does have some early speed but his main strength appears to be a huge closing run. He's got a mid-track running style and while he has had trouble clearing the turn from the one box, if he can get a decent break he's certainly got the late kick to run down the leaders.
