SOUTHLAND Preview - 5 Up And Coming Greyhounds to keep an eye on at Southland
Here are 5 up and coming greyhounds running at Southland that already show much promise and potential in their very young careers and who bear watching in the future. These greyhounds show talent and desire and are certainly worth keeping an eye on as they gain experience with each and every race. I have listed them below in alphabetical order and will be updating their progress over the next several months as well as having another 5 up and coming greyhound list next month. The only requirement is that they haven't ran 10 official races as of yet. As always comments are welcome and if you have noticed a young greyhound who you think should be on the list, please feel free to let us know.
FLYING FIRED UP - This young greyhound has yet to run an official race, he does that on Friday, November 14th but what grabbed my attention is his two impressive schooling races. He won both of them, one by 8 1/2 lengths and the other one by 10 1/2 lengths. Has real good early speed and a strong late kick and that combination will make him tough to beat once he gets the lead. He has an inside running style that is sure to provide this greyhound many opportunities to win.
FLYING YAHOO - Runs 2 schooling races and wins both of them, one by 11 lengths (ran a sizzling 31.95 in that race by the way) and the other by 13 lengths. In his first maiden race he wins by a length and a half. He likes it mid-track, has a strong rush to the turn and turns it on down the stretch with a big late move, it definitely looks like he has a huge future ahead of him. Looked impressive in Abilene at the fall meet so the sky's the limit for this hard running greyhound.
NB'S LEBRONJAMES - Started his career at Palm Beach with 4 races which included 2 wins, a second and a third place finish. Came to Southland and has had 4 starts as well which include 3 wins and a third place effort. His record to date, 8 starts with 5 wins, a second and 2 third place finishes. Likes the inside, has a decent rush and a strong move down the backstretch, all of which has helped moved him up to A grade in just 8 starts.
PETER MILLS - He has 5 career starts with 3 wins, a second and a fourth place finish. Began his career at Dubuque with a second place effort and then ran off 3 straight wins before coming to Southland and running 4th in his first start here. His early races show a very good rush to the turn and a strong run at the end with an inside running style.
TC'S MIKE TROUT - This young greyhound has had 8 starts so far and shows 2 wins, 2 seconds and a third place finish while moving up to Grade C. Despite his young age, he already has gained stakes racing experience by running in two of the recently held Festival Of Stakes races. Shows a 31.88 winning time in only his second race of his career. The potential is here and we will be watching him move up the racing ladder starting with his first race in C grade next time out.
Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
