SOUTHLAND preview - December 31, 2015

December 30th, 2015

Welcome to another Thursday of entertaining and exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 20 races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure on this, the last card of 2015. For the picks for this last program of the year, MoneyMaker Mike has selected 5 greyhounds along with his longshot pick and hopefully these picks come thru for us and put some cash in our pockets as we head into the new year. Let's end 2015 with some winners and some $$$$$$$. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading. Best wishes for a very Happy New Year, may 2016 be healthy and prosperous for all of you.

Race 3 - 583 yards - Grade M - PJ TIME TO GO - 4 box - This young pup had much trouble in his first official start as he was bumped at the break and hit again on the first turn, fell back to last yet was able to work his way all the way back to second, beaten only by a length. He should come right back with another big effort here. I will key the 4 with the 1/3/7/8 in quinielas and trifectas.

Race13 - 660 yards - Grade A - FLYING OSIRIS - 8 box - Let's go with a upset call here with this one. Morning line has him at 18-1 but those odds should drop as race time nears as he has shown to be competitive in Grade AA with finishes of 1st, 3rd and 4th showing on the program. This being his second race since dropping in class and with a post position that will help his mid to wide running style, I've got to give him a solid shot here. I will play him in quinielas, 8 with the 1/3/5/6 and in trifectas with the 8 -6-all and the 8-all-6.

Race15 - 583 yards - Grade AA - FLYING FIRED UP - 3 box - Got to go with one of the most talented greyhounds running in the country right here, Flying Fired Up. He's won 3 of his last 5 races and for those of you who may have missed it, he is headed to the BETAMERICA Daytona 550 championship race which will be held in January 2016. I like the 3 with the 2/5/7/8 in quinielas and trifectas and will also play the 3 to win in the superfecta followed by the 2. (3-2-all-all, 3-all-2-all and 3-all-all-2)

Race17 - 660 yards - Grade AA - PJ REFINED - 7 box - Last two times at this distance from the 7 box, he's gotten a win and a second place finish. Post position and a good break should have her contending for another win here. I'll play quinielas here, 7 with the 1/5/6/8.

Race20 - 820 yards - Grade TC - L'S TINY BRAD - 3 box - He's probably not going to be among the early leaders in this always exciting super marathon race but don't let that discourage you, he'll be flying down the backside and the stretch with his strong closing outside move. I like him in quinielas and will play the 3 with the 1/2/5/7/8.

MoneyMaker Mike's longshot pick of the evening -

Race 2 - 583 yards - Grade D - PJ GRAB A BEER - 2 box - He's an inside runner who is capable of getting out early and finding running room on the rail in which to challenge for the win. Only 4 official races in his young career but that does include a win from the 1 box so worth a shot at the nice odds he will probably go off at.
