Southland preview - Young Greyhounds
Welcome to another Southland monthly preview of the Five Up & Coming Young Greyhounds To Watch. February's selections consist of several hard running youngsters that have started their careers with some impressive wins and strong finishes. The only requirement that I use in selecting the 5 up and coming young greyhounds to watch each month is that they have had no more then 10 official starts prior to being selected. Please check back as every two months or so I will give updates on the progress of our selections. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
DIGITAL DOMAIN - 3 career starts - 2-0-1-0 - Already running in Grade C after 2 wins in 3 races, he's an inside runner with solid early speed and up to this point has shown a knack for being either near the front or in the lead in all of his outings so far. Yes, the competition gets tougher as he moves up in class but this young greyhound seems to have the talent and determination to succeed so certainly worth watching his progress. Next race - Saturday evening, January 30 - 583 yards - Grade C - 2nd race - 5 box
FALCON HAWK - 3 career starts - 1-1-1-0 - He has an inside running style and a huge rush to the turn which bodes him well in the future. Look for him to be near the front and challenging for the lead as he gains more experience with each race he runs. The talent sure seems to be there so keep your eyes on this one in the coming months. Next race - Saturday matinee, January 30 - 583 yards - Grade D - 3rd race - 8 box
FLY M STAR - 1 career start - 1-0-0-0 - She's the only female on this month's list but just as capable of giving good efforts as with her rail running style to go along with blazing early speed, she will be a strong contender more often then not. With just a couple of schooling outings and only one official race under her belt, she's still shown me enough to want to follow her progress for a while. Next race - Saturday evening, January 30 - 583 yards - Grade D - 3rd race - 1 box
JD INDEPENDENCE - 3 career starts - 1-0-1-0 - A good looking young greyhound who won both of his schooling races at the Bluffs Run track before transferring here to Southland where he won his only schooling race and then had a win and a third place finish in his only 3 starts at this track. A rail runner with good early speed and he bears watching in the future. Next race - Saturday matinee, January 30 - 583 yards - Grade D - 3rd race - 2 box
PJ TIME TO GO - 6 career starts - 1-2-3-0 - I like closers and I think he is going to be a good one as he's six out six in the money finishing in the top 3 every time he has run. A mid-track runner who may not be near the front in most of his races but he will certainly be kicking it in high gear down the backstretch and turning on the jets as they come down the stretch. His ability to overcome trouble is impressive, even at this young stage in his career so look out for him in the future. Next race - Saturday evening, January 30 - 583 yards - Grade D - 8th race - 2 box
Best of luck to all these young greyhounds in their future.
