SOUTHLAND Preview -Young Greyhounds to watch
Welcome to another Southland monthly preview of the Five Up & Coming Young Greyhounds To Watch. October's selections certainly look like they will give a solid showing in the coming weeks and months as their young careers have already gotten of to a very good start. The only requirement that I use in selecting the 5 up and coming young greyhounds to watch each month is that they have no more then 10 official starts prior to being selected. This month brings an added surprise of a sixth up and coming star as the choices were just too tough to choose five. Please check back as every two months or so I will give updates on the progress of our selections. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
ARKUSKA EARTH - 8 starts - 3-0-1-0 - running in Grade B now - hard runner who shows good early speed to go along with her inside running style.
KELSOS GILLIGAN - 8 starts - 2-4-1-0 - running in Grade D now - another greyhound who gives 110% each time out, he's a mid to wide runner with a big closing effort, watch this one in the future. Next race - Saturday matinee, September 19 - race 8 - box 2
MAC MCGWIRE - 4 starts - 2-1-1-0 - running in Grade C now - he's got a good rush and a solid closing run so with that combination is able to run just about anywhere on the track and from any post position. Next race - Saturday evening, September 19 - race 5 - box 2
SHOW ON THE ROAD - 6 starts - 4-0-0-1 - running in Grade A now - all this impressive young greyhound has done is rattle off 4 wins in six races while moving up from Grade M to Grade A in less then 4 weeks. He's a mid track runner who can go early but his real strength is a blazing late move from the final turn all the way to the wire.
SLATEX SUPERIOR - 10 starts - 4-1-0-0 - running in Grade A now - he took a while to get a win in Grade M but once he did, he hasn't lost since. He is on a 4 race winning streak having climbed up the ladder to Grade A. He's got an inside running style and worth keeping an eye on these next few months. Next race - Sunday afternoon, September 20 - race 7 - box 3
TNT ROUNDHOUSE - 5 starts - 3-2-0-0 - running in Grade B now - how about this impressive start, he is 5 out of 5 in the quiniela with 3 wins already in his young career. He is a rail runner who shows all the tools of becoming a future star. Very good early speed with a nice rush when needed and a late kick down the stretch. Keep this one in mind as you may be looking at a top grade runner at Southland for months to come.
Yes, I know, this month's 5 up & coming greyhounds is 6 but I couldn't decide between a couple of these future stars so enjoy and good luck to all.
