SOUTHLAND Preview - Friday Evening, November 18

November 17th, 2016

Looking at the card for Southland on Friday evening, I've come across several races that I found grabbed my attention right away along with a few others that stand out as sure to be highlights on this very competitive program. There is plenty of exciting greyhound on tap with this lineup of 18 races and it is sure to be quite entertaining. As always, please keep in mind that BetAmerica is available should you have any questions or need wagering information. Good luck to all and thanks for reading. Best of luck as always with your wagering opportunities.

Race 1 - 660 yards - Grade C - CBJ BUGSY SIEGEL (8 box) - A little over a month ago this hard running greyhound was in the Consolation Finals of one of the divisions of the 2016 Southland FESTIVAL OF STAKES competition and came away with a solid 4th place finish over the 583 yard course. Since then however he's dropped down two grades to Grade C class, a class where he hasn't been  since August of 2015 so I will be watching with interest to see if he can get back in form over this distance course where he has done very well throughout his career.
Race 4 - 703 yards - Grade C - BIGSHOT MADDY (4 box) - Here is another talented greyhound, one that made the Finals of her division in the FESTIVAL OF STAKES competition but who also has fallen on tough times lately. She has been the beaten favorite the last 6 times she's raced and I'll be watching to see if she gets back in the win column here. To show you how competitive this youngster is, she's already won at the 583, 660 and 703 yard distances in her short career.

Race 10 - 583 yards - Grade AA - To me the best race of the evening with all 8 greyhounds bringing something solid to the table. DEL SOL INEZ (1 box) is a recent transfer from the Caliente track and in just 3 races already has two wins, BODY BEAST (2 box) is trying to make it 4 wins in a row and COACH VOGS (3 box) has 2 wins and a second place effort in his last 4 races while OAKS MADDY (4 box) leads all greyhounds in this race with 19 wins so far this season. SUPER C REDMAN (5 box) is the recent winner of the Barry Baldwin Juvenile Division of the FESTIVAL OF STAKES championship and CROOK (6 box) has rattled off 4 straight top four finishes including two wins. VJ ON THE RIVER (7 box) was a very close 2nd to Super C Redman in the above mentioned Barry Baldwin Juvenile Division championship race final and who has gone off as the betting favorite all six times showing on the program while CBJ PEPSI (8 box) has won 3 of his last 5 races. Too tough to call but well worth watching as a super strong field goes to post.

Lest we forget, in the 13th race we have OSHKOSH KID (1 box) going after his 28th win of the season and in the 17th race KB'S SOPHIA (8 box) will be going for her 4th straight win. Finally, last but not least, in the 18th race you will see FIESTA TRAVEL (6 box) going after her 24th, yes that's right, 24th straight top 4 finish. In her previous 23 starts, she's won an incredible 15 times, had 3 second place efforts, 2 third place and 3 fourth place finishes. She's also going for 3 wins in a row and her 12th straight top three finish.
