SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday, August 29

Results are in for week 4 of MoneyMaker Mike's short kennel study that I have been doing this month and I've recapped the 3 kennels and how they did for the week. As I said at the

start of August, I was going to be keeping up with 3 or 4 different Southland kennels each week and checking results from several days each week. People have often asked me over the years if it pays off to keep up with the them and my answer has always been yes, it definitely can benefit the greyhound fan to pay attention to how well the different kennels might be running at any given time. It is always a good choice to keep a kennel chart close by during a performance in my opinion. This is a very short and unscientific study but keeping up with how the kennels are running on a daily basis is a worthwhile handicapping tool that you could use to your advantage. Kennels I followed this week - STEVE M. SARRAS Kennel, BUSSMAN BALAKAS Lic. & the CHARTER Kennel, Inc. The results listed below are from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (both matinee and evening performances).

Steve M. Sarras Kennel had 12 entries on Wednesday and 9 entries on Thursday for a total of 21 for those two days. Of the 21 entries for Wednesday and Thursday the kennel had 3 wins, 1 place finish, 2 show finishes and 1 fourth place effort. Of the 13 entries for Friday the kennel had no wins, 2 place finishes, 3 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts.

Bussman Balakas Lic. had 6 entries on Wednesday and 8 entries on Thursday for a total of 14 for those two days. Of the 14 entries for Wednesday and Thursday the kennel had 1 win, 3 place finishes,  no third place finishes and 1 fourth place effort. Of the 14 entries for Friday the kennel had 3 wins, 2 place finishes, 3 show finishes and no fourth place efforts.

Charter Kennel Inc. had 9 entries on Wednesday and 7 entries on Thursday for a total of 16 for those two days. Of the 16 entries for Wednesday and Thursday the kennel had no wins, 2 place finishes, 3 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts. Of the 24 entries for Friday the kennel had 1 win, 8 place finishes, 3 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts.

Of the past 4 week study these three kennels had the most competitive battle as each kennel had its good moments and in fact I am calling it a tossup between BUSSMAN BALAKAS Lic. & CHARTER KENNEL Inc. for the week. Bussman had 4 wins and Charter came thru with 11 quinela finishes but as I said earlier, all 3 kennels were competitive.
