SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday, June 29
At Southland this month we have been featuring greyhounds who have been on winning streaks of two or more as a different angle in which to watch at the track. Here is our update of the month long series along with the results of those we highlighted. There were a total of 27 greyhounds that I picked out as the month went along who had at least two wins in a row at the time.

Some notes from above - LUCIA, PAOLI PRIDE & BBB JACK POTTS all had 3 race winning streaks at the time but only BBB JACK POTTS make it 4 in a row. All the other greyhounds had 2 race winning streaks and only MEGA VAST was able to make it 3 in a row.
Another very interesting stat from the month long experience is that of the 27 greyhounds that I chose for this study only 2 greyhounds were able to continue their streaks - BBB JACK POTTS who won 4 straight winning in Grades TC, TB, TA & TAA and MEGA VAST who won 3 straight in Grades A, AA & AA.
There were 3 greyhounds who won Grades M & D before losing their winning streaks in their first race in Grade C. There were 8 greyhounds who won Grades D & C before losing their winning streaks in their first race in Grade B. There were 2 greyhounds who won in Grades D, C & B before losing their winning streaks in Grade A. There were 5 greyhounds who won in Grades C & B before losing their winning streaks in Grade A. There was 1 greyhound who won in Grades C, B, A & AA before losing his winning streak in Grade AA. There were 3 greyhounds who won in Grades B & A before losing their winning streaks in Grade AA. There were 5 greyhounds who won in Grades A & AA before losing their winning streaks in Grade AA.
Please keep in mind there were other greyhounds with winning streaks of at least two races in June so this recap just focuses on the ones that I picked and followed over the past month for this study. Southland is widely considered as the most competitive greyhound track in the U.S. and while it's tough for the majority of greyhounds to move up in grade on a consistent basis at any track, it's definitely harder to do at this track.
