SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday twilight, February 9
Welcome to another Monday twilight session of entertaining and wagering opportunities on greyhounds at Southland. There are 18 exciting races on tap and several of these stand out as having solid nice payoff potentials. I have listed those below and let's get the week started by putting cash in our pockets. Race 1 - Right off the bat we have a solid opportunity to cash a ticket with a Grade A contest over the 583 in Race 1 and I'm going with the (2) L'S BEACH BRIDE as the key. Talk about consistency, she has 35 top four finishes in 44 races including 11 wins and last time out of the 2 box in this grade she came away with the win. Competition is tough in this field but she is capable of breaking early and though she tends to like it mid-track, she can run good from any box and I look for her to find running room early to challenge for the win. I will play the (2) with the 1/4/6 in quinielas and tri's and the (2) to beat the 4 in the superfecta.
Race 8 - Here is a Grade D contest over the 703 yard course and my pick here is the (8) KR AMP ME UP. He's been the beaten favorite in 4 of his last 5 races and now by not being on the morning line he may go off at odds worth playing as he shows a second place finish along with two third place efforts and fourth in those contests over this distance. I believe he has enough early speed to challenge for the lead right out of the box and find running room on the rail where he likes to be.
Race 10 - This is a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and the pick here is the red hot (5) FLYIN SUPERGIANT who has won 5 of his last 6 races and certainly the one to beat here. He's a mid to wide runner with fine early speed to go along with a good closing kick and I look for him to go the front here and hang on the lead. I'll play the (5) with the 2/6/7 in quinielas as well on top in the tri with the 2/4/6/7.
Race 13 - Here we have another Grade AA race over the 660 yard course and I like the (8) PJ REFINED to win. This is an extremely talented young greyhound with just 41 career starts but already 27 top four finishes including 13 wins. Most of these good finishes came in Grade A and AA so she's not only putting up great stats, she's doing it against top notch completion. She's certainly a greyhound that will be considered for the All-American team in 2015 at this rate.
Race 15 - The MoneyMaker pick of the evening is in this Grade B contest over the 583 yard course and it's the (9) ARKANS MONICA. I like her because she has a wide running style and good early speed in which to put her among the frontrunners right out of the box. She should have an edge here with the 6/7/8 greyhounds all trying to get to the rail. Last time she had the 8 box in a Grade B race, she won. I look for her to have a solid chance at doing it again here. I will key the (9) with the 1/3/7 in quinielas and exactas.
