SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening, February 21
Welcome to another Saturday evening of 18 fun filled and exciting races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. I have gone thru the program and selected some races that I feel offer solid picks and which also could pay some nice prices. Good luck to all and thanks reading.
Race 1 - Let's get the evening started in the 1st race, a Grade A contest over the 583 and I like the (1) RC ABOVETHEREST as the one to beat. He loves the inside and is very tough when he draws the rail. He's a solid top grade runner having spent most of this time in AA Grade over the past 5 months and the post position certainly gives him the edge here. I will play the (1) with 4/6/7 in quinielas and tri's and I'll come back and play the 1-all-2-all, 1-all-all-2, all-1-2-all and all-1-all-2 in the dime superfecta.
Race 10 - Here we have a very competitive field in a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and I like the very impressive young greyhound the (1) SOVEREIGN ISLAND as the key. As some of you may know he is one of 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland for March that we posted about several days ago. He is 7 out of 7 in top four finishes including 5 wins in his very young career and has gone from Grade M to Grade AA in just a month. Making things even tougher for SOVEREIGN ISLAND is that he will be going against 2 All-American greyhounds in the (2) Atascocita Gray and the (5) U Too Pure Silk in this, his first Grade AA contest. I will play the (1) with the 2/5/7 mostly in quinielas but will play a tri with the same numbers.
Race 17 - Here is a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and I like the (5) CROWN AND CREST as the key. I will overlook his last race in which he encountered much trouble as before then, in his previous 5 races, he had 3 wins, a second and a fourth place finish. He has a strong rush to the turn which should put among the early leaders and give him the opportunity to find running room for his mid to rail style. I like him to challenge down the stretch for the win and I'll play the (5) with the 2/7/8 in quinielas and tri's and then play the 5-all-4-all, 5-all-all-4, all-5-4-all, all-5-all-4 in the dime superfecta.
Race 13 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the evening, it's in this Grade AA contest over the 660 yard course and I like the (7) PJ REFINED as the one to beat. She is a young but very impressive greyhound who has had a tremendous start to her career. In 43 races so far, she has 28 top four finishes which includes 11 wins and I look for her to continue to shine at Southland will a big run here. I'll key the (7) with the 1/4/6 in quinelas and tri's and will have her on top, 7-all-all-all in the dime superfecta which is a $21 bet.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
