SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening February 7
This evening at Southland we have 18 races on the card and MoneyMaker Mike has several interesting contests that he has picked out as good wagering opportunities. Three of the picks are in distance races so let's see if we can put some cash in our pockets starting in the very first race. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 1 - What a way to start the program as we have a Grade TC contest in race 1 over the 820 yard course otherwise known as the super-marathon. I like the (6) GS SIDNEY as the key as he recently won a race over this distance in this same grade just a few weeks back. He is a drop in class and has a mid to wide running style. He does have some early speed but even a better closing move so I'm going with him to challenge for the win down the stretch. I like the (6) with the 3/4/5/8 in quinielas and trifecta plays.
Race 2 - Here we have a Grade A race over the 583 yard contest and I like the (1) FLYING FIRED UP as the key. He is a young and talented greyhound and in his short career of 15 starts, he has 13 top four finishes including 4 wins. A rail runner with his inside running style, the one box gives him the edge here. I will play him with the 2/7/8.
Race 6 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the evening, it is a Grade D contest over the 660 yard course and the choice is the (4) PJMONEYINDABANK. He is a double drop in class and moving back to the 660 yard distance instead of the longer 703 yards that he's been running lately. He has an inside running style and it won't surprise me to see him among the leaders right out of the box and in good position to get the win. Worth a play here in my opinion.
Race 14 - In this Grade AA race over the 703 yard course, the pick is the (3) KL'S CHRISTOPHER. This hard running greyhound has been very consistent at this distance as evidenced by his 4 wins and a third and fourth place finish in his last six races over this same course. He is a mid to wide runner and he's got both a decent rush and a late closing move that should have him in the chase from start to finish.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
