SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening, January 31

January 31st, 2015

Welcome to another evening of great greyhound racing at Southland as we have 18 races on tap sure to be full of excitement and entertainment. On this, the last Southland card of the month, MoneyMaker Mike has picked out some solid plays that offer good wagering opportunities and hopefully we can all put some cash in our pockets. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 1 - We get things started with a solid pick in the 1st race, a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and the choice is the (2) TC'S MIKE TROUT. He is a hard running young greyhound who gives 110% each time out and is gaining valuable experience in every start he makes. He is 14 out of 22 in top four finishes so far in his short career and this includes 6 wins. I like him to break decent enough and find running room on the inside in which to challenge for the win. He has the consistency and the class to get the job done and at the good odds I think he will go off at, well worth a play here.

Race 4 - Here is a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course, I like the (2) LONG WATCH as the key and I will be playing him in mostly tri's and superfectas since he hasn't shown very much early speed to this point. That being said, he has a tremendous closing ability so I'll go with him to make the bottom part of the ticket. I will play him with the 3/4/8 in tri's and superfectas with a few quinelas and win tickets on him in case he pulls the upset. He can run from any box so post position shouldn't be a factor for him and while he won't be among the leaders around the 1st turn, he will be catching the frontrunners and flying down the stretch.

Race 9 - This is our MoneyMaker pick of the evening, it's in a Grade D race over the 660 yard course and I'm going with the (8) TJAYS TITAN FALL to make it two straight wins over this distance. He's got a decent combination of early speed as well as a late closing move and that should have him within striking distance of the leaders down the stretch. Worth a shot in this one as he could get overlooked by some of the betting public and pay a nice price.

Race 17 - In this Grade AA race over the 583 yard course, the choice is the very talented (2) U TOO PURE SILK. He's out fast and more than capable of a box to wire run. I like him with the 1/3/4 and will play him mostly in quinielas and first and second in tri's. The price may not be big on him but he's a solid play with me in this one.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
