SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday, October 15
This weekend we are going to take a look at the top grade races on the program for Saturday evening, October 15 at Southland. These will be Grade AA and TAA races and they will include some of the best greyhound running anywhere in the country. Several of these talented runners ran well in the recently completed 2016 Southland Festival Of Stakes competition and should provide an exciting and entertaining evening at the track as they battle paw to paw to cross the finish line first. I've listed below the 3 races and the greyhounds to beat so enjoy the racing and best of luck to all of you with your wagering opportunities.
Race 10 - Grade AA - 583 yards - SE TALI SUNDANCE (4) will probably go off as the favorite here but Flying Wolf Pack (8) will give him a run for his money, especially right out of the box. This has the makings of an early speed race to the turn between these two so it will be interesting to watch and see which one clears the first turn with the lead. With those two battling it out early and often I won't overlook Mega Backboard (2) or Mrl King Pin (7) as either or both of these could certainly be close enough down the backstretch to make their move.
Race 10 - Grade AA - 583 yards - SE TALI SUNDANCE (4) will probably go off as the favorite here but Flying Wolf Pack (8) will give him a run for his money, especially right out of the box. Race 14 - Grade AA - 660 yards - OSHKOSH KID (8) is coming off a huge stakes win as the champion of the 2016 Southland Festival Of Stakes middle distance division. He's going for 6 wins in a row here and stands a solid chance of doing so. The one to beat without a doubt but don't forget about Dare Devil Deven (3) and Fiesta Magic (1). Both of these fine greyhounds also did well in the middle distance division and ran against Oshkosh Kid in the finals. Boc's Red Neck (7) did finish in second place in the consolation finals and could be a money finisher in this one.
Race 18 - Grade TAA - 820 yards - FIESTA TRAVEL (1) she's the one to beat here in my opinion as the rail gives her the edge. This is the toughest and most competitive race of the evening as 5 of these hard running super marathon greyhounds were finalists in the 2016 Southland Festival Of Stakes super marathon division. Pj Fully Loaded (7) won the championship with an incredible run in the finals, beating not only Fiesta Travel but Dnt Oh Maggie (6) who went off as the favorite in that race. Flying Scoobydoo (2) and Hs Mankthespank (4) also were in that strong field of finalists. This has the potential to be the best race of the week.
