SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday twilight, August 23
Welcome to another Sunday twilight card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for our viewing and wagering pleasure. MoneyMaker Mike's picks for this card will be greyhounds that finished in last place last time out but have a decent chance of coming right back with a really big effort while returning a nice profit to you. Greyhounds that are coming off last place finishes are often overlooked when handicapping a race so there will be times when you can really get nice odds on some of them. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 1 - 334 yards - Grade TC - DANGEROUSMISSION - 1 box - After an 8th place finish in his last contest, you could possibly overlook him here but since he's drawn the one box which suits him well for his inside running style, I'll give him a shot here. He does show on the program a schooling win just a few days ago over this 334 yard course so hopefully he gets out fast, avoids trouble and puts himself in a good position to challenge for the win.
Race 10 - 583 yards - Grade AA -CHASMO'S OCTANE - 7 box - Despite this talented young greyhound falling last time out and finishing 8th, I do like him to come roaring back with a big race here. Since coming here from the Orange Park track, in 19 starts he has 16 top four finishes which includes six wins. While he is capable of showing good early speed out of the box he also has a determined strong rush to the turn as well as a late kick when needed. He's a solid top grade runner who gives 110% each time out.
Race 13 - 660 yards - Grade C - PJ SUPERIOR - 1 box - Talk about a greyhound running last, in his last 5 official races he's finished 8th each time. He does show a schooling win about 2 weeks ago and I am willing to give him a chance here since he's a rail runner and a double drop in class.
Good luck to all.
