SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday, August 27
Welcome to another Thursday twilight card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for our viewing and wagering pleasure. MoneyMaker Mike's picks for this card will be greyhounds that finished in last place last time out but have a decent chance of coming right back with a really big effort while returning a nice profit to you. Greyhounds that are coming off last place finishes are often overlooked when handicapping a race so there will be times when you can really get nice odds on some of them. Race 4 - Grade TB - 334 yards - PROSTAR SUPERIOR - 3 box - Here is a greyhound who transferred here from Mobile with a very impressive 33 top four finishes out of 36 races which believe it or not, included 25 wins and 6 second place efforts. So far he hasn't had much success as in 4 official starts at Southland his best effort is a 4th place finish. All those races were over the 583 yard course and now he finds himself in a 334 yard dash where his early speed might be enough to hold on for a money finish. Let's give him a shot here, even if it's a small one as odds should be good after his last two races in which he finished 9th in both.
Race 6 - Grade C - 583 yards - WW'S GLOSSYKARMA - 2 box - Here is another recent transfer, this greyhound is from the Birmingham track and ran very good there having 12 wins among his 21 top four finishes in 28 starts. Probably won't get much action as his lines at Southland show only one fourth place finish in his 4 official starts but he did show a strong late move in that race. He doesn't show early speed but if he could somehow hit the lid and find some running room on the inside, his closing run could have him surprising the field.
Race 7 - Grade D - 583 yards - KB'S HITTHATRAIL - 6 box - This greyhound is a double drop in class and coming off an 8th place finish last time out after being bumped. He does have 7 wins and has a strong rush to the turn so worth a play here, especially with his post position and wide running style.
