Wednesday's results show a nice 3rd place effort by NB'S LEBRONJAMES who ran in the 1st and who despite much trouble at the break still managed a solid third place effort. He was one of the 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland for November that I posted about a while back and that we are keeping up with during this month. Another one of the 5 up and coming greyhounds PETER MILLS ran in the 3rd race yesterday evening and looked in good position as he was running 3rd heading into the turn before encountering trouble and finishing 7th. Also one of the top 5 up and coming greyhounds was FLYING FIRED UP who ran in the 4th race and won going away. Of these 3 dogs, we had a win, a third place and seventh place finish from them.
For Wednesday's MoneyMaker Mike picks KL'S KYLE had the one box in race 11 and came away with a very nice win. In race 14, ONE ATE HUNDRED went to the front and held the lead until the far turn before being passed but still came away with a solid second place finish. In race 16, RCK JADE never seem to get going but did end up 5th after making up some ground at the end. Of the three MoneyMaker Mike plays, we had a one win, a second and a fifth place effort for a very respectable showing.
Thursday's program does not include one of the 5 up and coming greyhounds for November at Southland so we will go straight to the MoneyMaker Mike picks.
In race 2 I am going to go with the (8) WW'S JUNK PILE to get his second win in his last 3 races over the 660 yard course. He was running Grade AA just 3 months ago before hitting a slump and dropping all the way back to Grade D before getting back on the winning track. He can run from anywhere and I hope his win a week or so ago signals a return to form. Worth a shot in my opinion as the odds should be decent.
In race 8 I like the (1) PJ SOUR DIESEL to surprise the field with a big effort from the one box. Since coming here from the Wheeling track, where by the way she won 6 times and worked her way up to Grade AA, she's had her share of trouble but does like the inside and last time from the one box showed early speed before running into trouble on the 1st turn. She's dropped in grade since arriving back at Southland and may get overlooked here but she is capable of a big race.
In race 10, the (6) DARK N DEMURE gets the nod as the one to beat. She likes it mid to wide and has a very good rush to the turn. She won a Round 1 race in the recently completed Southland Festival Of Stakes and has dropped to Grade B which should be the edge she needs this evening. With a good break and avoiding any early trouble, she will challenge for the win.
Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
