SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday twilight, January 15

January 15th, 2015

Welcome to another Thursday of greyhound racing at Southland and on tap are 18 entertaining and exciting races for us to enjoy and wager on. I have several races that I feel offer solid wagering opportunities and these are listed below. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 1 - Here is a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (6) IN MY MEMORY as the key. He's going up against some tough competition but with 15 top four finishes in his career up to this point, which include six wins already, he's shown not only the talent needed to run in the top grades, but the consistency as well. With 3 wins in his last five races while moving up to A grade, I'll gladly give him a shot here. Don't look for him among the early leaders but he does have a strong late move that should have him in striking distance to catch the leaders down the stretch.

Race 10 - This is a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and the choice here is the (1) CBJ BUTTERFINGER. Talk about consistency, she is 39 out of 47 in top four finishes and she does have 15 wins included in those results. Likes the inside, gets the one box here and it should give her the edge needed. Last time from the one box, in the same AA class as she is in now, she won. I do like the young and hard running (5) DARK N DEMURE who has won 2 of her last 3 races to be in the chase early so these two will be on all my tickets in this one.

Race 12 - A Grade D contest over the 583 yard course has the MoneyMaker pick of the evening and it is the (7) DUTCH BLITZ. He has encountered much trouble as of late but he is a double drop in grade and he does like it mid to wide so with a record of 17 top four finishes in 23 races, I have to key him here as he is the class of the race. Let's hope we get some good odds on him and a nice payback on our investment.

Race 13 - This is a Grade AA contest over the 660 yard course and I'm going with the (7) PJ REFINED as the one to beat. She's got tons of early speed and can also come from off the pace if needed. She's a young greyhound full of potential and has already won 5 races at this distance. She's a solid Grade A/AA runner and I'm looking for her to clear early and hold the lead for the win.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
