SOUTHLAND Preview - Wednesday, December 14

The Wednesday twilight program at Southland is highlighted by a couple of top grade races along with a race featuring a young but talented greyhound trying to keep his winning streak going a little longer and I've listed these races below.  For me, these races stand out both for the greyhounds mentioned below as well as the highly competitive fields they are running in. Race 10 - 583 yards - Grade AA - This race stands out to me as the most competitive contest of the program as you have three outstanding runners going paw to paw in the quest for a hard earned win. NASHAPELLI (2 box) is posted well for his inside running style and is going for his 3rd straight win. VJ ON THE RIVER (4 box) & OAKS MADDY (5 box) are proven top grade winners and will give Nashapelli all he can handle. I would also keep an eye on BOC'S COVER UP (7 box) who has recently transferred from the Iowa Greyhound track and who has picked up 2 wins in her first races since arriving here. A tough field with some very talented greyhounds makes this one a must see.

Race 15 - 583 yards - Grade B - Here we have the impressive young pup PJ PUREHARDROCK (4 box) going after his 4th straight win, in his very short career of 4 races, he has already picked up 3 wins to go along with a second place effort in his official start. Likes the inside and combines both a good rush and a strong late kick that should have him in contention once again as he steadily climbs up in class.

Race 18 - 660 yards - Grade AA - Finishing up the evening we have OSHKOSH KID (6 box) who is looking for his 30th win of the season and his 16th top three finish in his last 17 races. One of the most consistent greyhounds running anywhere in the country, he's gotten 45 top four finishes in 50 races so far in 2016.
