SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening, October 22

This week we have been taking a look at the top grade races on the program and Saturday evening there are four Grade AA races that we will be watching closely at Southland. These are Grade AA races and they will include some of the best greyhound running anywhere in the country. Several of these talented runners ran well in the recently completed 2016 Southland Festival Of Stakes competition and should provide an exciting and entertaining evening at the track as they battle paw to paw to cross the finish line first. I've listed below the 4 races and some of the greyhounds to watch so enjoy the racing and best of luck to all of you with your wagering opportunities. Race 10 - 660 yards - Grade AA - OSHKOSH KID (8) & FIESTA MAGIC (7) are the ones to keep an eye on here as Oshkosh Kid won the finals of the 2016 Festival Of Stakes middle distance division a few weeks ago and Fiesta Magic ran 4th in that same race. Also capable of a big effort in this race are EVOLVINGSITUAJHN (3) and LK'S PICKETWIRE (5).

Race 15 - 660 yards - Grade TAA - BRASKA DALE (8) is the one to beat as he is coming off a recent 2nd place finish to Oshkosh Kid in the Festival Of Stakes middle division finals.  Other solid runners in this race are BOC'S RED NECK (1), FIESTA BRUNO (2) and BARTS POCKETACES (7).

Race 16 - 703 yards - Grade AA - SHOW ON THE ROAD (1) has had two straight subpar outings but I look for him to return to his winning ways with a big effort here. With 22 wins in 36 races he's shown to be more then capable enough to win at anytime. Several greyhounds who could give him a strong challenge are the up and coming hard running youngster BOBBY AXELROD (3) and WW'S NIRVANA (5) who is on a hot streak of his own with 5 top three finishes including 3 wins in his last five races. Throw in L'S SHAX (7) for a strong closer should there be trouble among the frontrunners.

Race 17 - 820 yards - Grade TAA - This should be the most competitive race of the evening as the always exciting Super Marathon is full of very talented runners. DNT OH MAGGIE (2), FIESTA TRAVEL (3), FLYING SCOOBYDOO (4), PJ FULLY LOADED (7) & BOC'S TONY ROMO (8) all should be in the chase to finish first. Seven of the eight greyhounds in this race ran in the recently completed Festival Of Stakes competition so watch for some fireworks here.
