Here is a quick recap of the short kennel study that I've been doing for the past two weeks where I take several different kennels and keep up with their results over several days. People have often asked me over the years if it pays off to keep up with the them and my answer has always been yes, it definitely can benefit the greyhound fan to pay attention to how well the different kennels might be running at any given time. It is always a good choice to keep a kennel chart close by during a performance in my opinion. This is a very short and unscientific study but keeping up with how the kennels are running on a daily basis is a worthwhile handicapping tool that you could use to your advantage. KENNELS I followed this past week at Southland were the Darren Henry Kennel, Magic City Kennel & Northshore Kennel. I checked out the kennels out on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week using matinee, twilight and evening performances.
DARREN HENRY Kennel - Had 10 entries on Wednesday and 11 entries on Thursday. Of 10 entries Wednesday kennel had 1 Winner, 2 place finishes, 3 show finishes and 0 fourth place efforts. Of 11 entries Thursday kennel had 0 winners, 0 place finishes, 4 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts.
Of 14 entries on Friday kennel had 0 winners, 3 place finishes, 4 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts.
NORTHSHORE Kennel - Had 7 entries on Wednesday and 11 entries on Thursday. Of 7 entries Wednesday kennel had 1 Winner, 2 place finishes, 0 show finishes and 2 fourth place efforts. Of 11 entries Thursday kennel had 2 Winners, 0 place finishes, 2 show finishes and 3 fourth place efforts.
Of 22 entries Friday kennel had 2 Winners, 2 place finishes, 2 show finishes and 5 fourth place efforts.
MAGIC CITY Kennel - Had 10 entries on Wednesday and 8 entries on Thursday. Of 10 entries on Wednesday kennel had 0 winners, 0 place finishes, 2 show finishes and 1 fourth place effort. Of 8 entries on Thursday kennel had 0 winners, 2 place finishes, 0 show finishes and 0 fourth place efforts.
Of 18 entries on Friday kennel had 3 Winners, 1 place finish, 2 show finishes and 5 fourth place efforts.
Northshore Kennel gets the edge in this 3 day battle with 5 winners, 4 place finishes, 4 show finishes and 10 fourth place efforts for a total of 23 top four finishes in 40 starts. Magic City deserves mention as they did have 3 winners and 11 top four finishes in 18 starts on Friday.
