Southland Recap on Longshot Selections

August 16th, 2015

Welcome to another Sunday matinee card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland Greyhound Park. For the past week MoneyMaker Mike has been giving out four longshot selections for several evenings for those of you who requested that I give some choices that might could help bring a nice return on your investment. The only requirement for a longshot pick was that the greyhounds selected not be one of the four favorites at the bottom of the program. These were longshot picks that I felt stood a decent chance of finishing in the top three and helping make the ticket a nice paying one. This is a recap of how the longshot picks did. Always remember that should you have any questions about wagering opportunities or opening an account BETAMERCIA will be more then glad to help you.

There were a total of 4 longshots picked on 5 different days of the past week for a total of 20 longshot selections. Listed below is how they finished.

Here are some stats and observations from the past week's study.

On each of the 5 twilight/evening programs, at least one longshot selection ran in the money. On two of the 5 twilight/evening programs, 2 longshot selections ran in the money. Of the 20 selections, 7 of the longshot picks ran in the money. Of the 7 selections that ran in the money there were 3 winners, 3 seconds and 1 third place finish. The other longshots finished 5th a total of 3 times, finished 6th a total of 1 time, finished 7th a total of 5 times, finished 8th a total of 2 times and 9th a total of 2 times. The average of the longshot selections running in the money was  35% for the week. I didn't include the payoffs as each person plays the longshots differently as some people will play the longshot just to win, and others might key the longshot to run 2nd or 3rd. It really depends on a person's handicapping style, money management abilities and their different wagering preferences (which we all know varies a great deal from person to person) because some people can take a longshot and make good money while others can take the same longshot and miss the race. That is true whether the greyhound chosen is a favorite or a longshot or somewhere in between. If you have a comment or suggestion please feel free to let me know as it is always fun and interesting to try out different betting strategies from time to time.

Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
