SOUTHLAND - Saturday, April 16
Here are the Friday matinee and evening results of this week's study of the morning line picks at Southland and I have recapped them below. As previously stated, this week MoneyMaker Mike is taking a look at different handicapping styles and I figured we would start with the morning line picks found at the bottom of each of the daily Southland programs. Friday's races were the 3rd and 4th of the 7 performances which run thru Sunday and I will continue to update the results daily and then have an overall recap on Monday. On Sunday, the highlight of the racing card will be the start of the Southland 2016 Spring Futurity stakes. There will be 6 races tomorrow in Round 1 of this stakes contest and I will list my 8 selections to make the finals as well as my pick to win it all. The results of Friday's matinee morning line picks showed the key dog in each race came in the money 7 times in 18 races with 3 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third place finish. There were 8 quinielas hit using four dog boxes and two of those quinielas were the top two dogs on the morning line which came in the 1st and 9th race. Also in the first race, the morning line selections hit the superfecta as all four choices finished in the top four. There were 4 trifectas hit using the four dog box, those tri's were in the 1st, 7th, 9th and 15th races.
The results of Friday's evening morning line picks showed the key dog in each race came in the money 7 times in 18 races with 5 wins, 1 second and 1 third place finish. There were 8 quinielas hit using four dog boxes and 3 of those were the top two dogs in races 1, 12 and 17. The 12th and 17th races came in exact order for the quinela and exactas. Just like in the matinee, there was one superfecta hit in the four dog box and it also came in the 1st race. There were 4 trifectas hit in the evening using the four dog box, the 1st, 6th, 11th and 17th races. The 1st race morning line pick hit the tri with it's top 3 dogs and was the only tri hit boxing 3 dogs. As you can tell, the results were very similar between the matinee and evening cards which I found interesting.
