Southland - Sunday, February 21
Welcome to another Sunday matinee program of highly entertaining and exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 races on tap on the card for your viewing and wagering pleasure. This week MoneyMaker Mike has been selecting several races that stand out as good opportunities for some longshots to have nice money finishes and and I've listed these races below for greyhound fans and racing fans in general to check out. This is the last of the longshot picks for the week and I will give a recap on how the picks turned out in the next day or so. Thanks for reading and good luck with your wagers.
Race 4 - 703 yards - Grade B - REIGN SUPREME - 1 box - This rail running greyhound has drawn the one box for only the 2nd time in the past 4 months and keep in mind he does have a win in Grade A over this distance so with the post position and top grade experience, I'm going with him here.
Race 5 - 583 yards - Grade A - PUFFAPELLI - 2 box - Since last September this is only the third time this mostly inside runner has been able to have a post position this close to the rail. For that reason alone I would give him a play here, and while he probably won't hit the lid at the break, he has shown a very good rush to the turn and if he can be anywhere near the front at that time his chances are very good for a money finish.
Race 12 - 660 yards - Grade B - ARKANS WOMBAT - 1 box - He's a very consistent young greyhound as evidenced by his last year's record of 21 top four finishes in 28 starts and while he hasn't gotten off to a big start this season, he still has the talent and ability to turn things around in a hurry. He has recently dropped in class and since his last win in Grade B came from the one box I will be looking for him to turn in a big effort here.
