Spotlight on the Jackpot!

November 23rd, 2013

DeD 6 | 4:43 pm ET / 3:43 pm local / 1:43 pm PT G3 Delta Princess 2yo F going 1 mi. 1. Tepin: game and hasn’t done much wrong 2. Zip On: was overmatched out of the win in first route try 3. Miss Behaviour: speed with nagging foot problems gets a jock switch 4. Bahnah: speed won the local prep even if DQ’d for causing traffic 5. Synapse: put up for the win in local prep in first dirt try 6. Concave: precocious daughter of Colonel John was overmatched in first route try 7. Appreciating: second time routing and gets the switch to Casse’s main man Bridgmo

Concave will take a lot of money shipping in for O’Neill and she might well bounce back off two sub-par efforts, but the best value is in the Casse pair: Appreciating is very intriguing second time routing and Tepin has may have more speed than she’s been able to show of late. And it’s tough to overlook the prep winner, which was an immature Bahnah.

DeD 7 | 5:15 pm ET / 4:15 pm local / 2:15 pm PT G3 Delta Jackpot 2yo going 1-1/16 mi. 1. Whyareuawesome: toss the Bourbon effort and he’s done little wrong; bred to love an off-track and gets to try dirt for the first time 2. Coastline: has done nothing wrong and this is the real reason Bridgmo makes the trip 3. Roman Unbridled: was overmatched out of maiden win 4. Mighty Brown: speed gets upgrade to Mena off solid second in the local prep 5. Rum Point: reunited with Gutierrez off three bad stakes tries 6. Flat Gone: well-traveled colt will be rolling late 7. Rankhasprivileges: lands against a tough group to try out of professional debut win; will get Lasix for the first time 8. Casiguapo: those New York races were a lot better than the margins suggest and he’s training fantastic 9. Big Bazinga: interestingly broke his maiden as a closer, yet nearly stole short-field G3 on the lead 10. Rise Up: rolled in the local prep off the freshening last out

All eyes will be on Rise Up and whether he can duplicate the sensational effort he put forth last out, but this isn’t a walkover for the son of Rockport Harbor. Coastline has turned out to be a very nice colt and Casiguapo has done very little wrong after a series of big efforts over the summer. The upset play could be Big Bazinga given his two starts have been very different, but both suggest he can really run and gets a massive jock upgrade to Napravnik. And for exotic players, Rankhasprivileges could definitely spoil superfectas if forgotten at the windows.

Selections: 2 – 9 – 8 – 10 – 7
