Stakes Spot Plays for Aqueduct on November 28

Attachment Rate at Churchill Downs - Coady Photography
A quartet of stakes events will highlight a fine Saturday card at Aqueduct.
Long Island (G3)
Fillies and mares will go 1 3/8 miles on the lawn in a competitive affair. I was very encouraged by the effort shown by #4 Mutamakina in the Zagora S. while making her U.S. debut for Clement. The 4-year-old Nathaniel filly didn’t have a smooth trip at Belmont Park and has every right to improve with one stateside effort under her belt. Dylan Davis will be in the silks.
Discovery (G3)
A compact field of five sophomores will go postward, and I will take a shot with #5 Attachment Rate. Trained by Dale Romans, the Hard Spun chestnut was a solid second in the Ellis Park Derby three back, and he comes into the Discovery off of a facile score in an allowance test at Churchill most recently. Virginia-bred was third in the Gotham (G3) in his lone prior run locally, and he should get a nice trip from the outside post, as well.
Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship
A well-matched field of 10 will dash 6 furlongs on the outer lawn in a $100,000 event. I am not sure if #9 Archidust will receive a great pace to aid his strong closing kick, but he gets top billing nonetheless. The Asmussen pupil sports a strong 7-4-0-2 mark on the sod and comes in fresh with five morning drills to prepare for his return. Nik Juarez will be in the controls.
Central Park S.
Juveniles will travel 1 1/16 miles on the green with 10 solid prospects signed on. #8 Never Surprised looked the part in a dominant debut win on the course and I think he could evolve into a very nice one. The Todd Pletcher trainee gave every indication of a horse who will stretch out with success in his first offering, and I will side with him and repeat pilot Carmouche in the tough field.
