Stakes spot plays for Remington Park on Nov. 13

November 11th, 2020

A trio of stakes races for Oklahoma-bred runners will highlight the Friday night action at Remington Park.

Slide Show S.

Juvenile fillies will travel one-mile in the dirt affair. With none in the cast having run two turns as of yet, the race could be ripe for an upset.

I liked the debut showing from #5 Run Slewpy Run when she finished second by a head. The gray filly showed tactical speed combined with a nice turn of foot on the surface while sprinting for Scott Young. And her half-sister, Alternative Slew, was a 2-year-old graduate who has taken the last two editions of the Distaff Turf S. at this venue, as well. Floyd Whethey retains the mount.

Silver Goblin S.

Oklahoma-bred sprinters will travel 6 1/2 furlongs in the $70,000 dash. Defending champ #2 Welder looks imposing at an expected short price, and I will play him with #1 Fly to the Bank, who removes blinkers for the initial time.

The Euroears gelding showed a lot of promise as a juvenile, and though he has yet to make a fine impression in 2020, Fly to the Bank has posted a pair of bullet drills in preparation of Friday’s tilt. The Helzer pupil will be prominent from the outset with Lindey Wade inheriting the mount.

Don C. McNeill S.

2-year-old boys will get their moment in the spotlight in a one-mile contest, and a cast of seven will go postward. I am not in love with the rail draw for #1 Number One Dude, but am still confident that the American Lion colt will best this field with a top performance. The Kari Craddock pupil is 2-for-2 lifetime, and while he had to work hard at 2-5 odds against a few of these most recently, he never got a breather in that dash and figures to get a more sensible trip on Friday. Gelding will have Lara in the stirrups.
