Sunday Rosecroft and Monday Harrington cards offer plays
In the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby, thoroughbred and standardbred racing fans alike will seek to pad their bankrolls in a variety of ways heading into the annual 'Run for the Roses' on the first Saturday in May and some of them will look to do so by playing Rosecroft Sunday evening and Harrington on Monday evening.
In Sunday's second race at Rosecroft, look for railbound Racsan Cyndee (Kim Vincent) and Casimir Jubilee (Frank Milby) should decide the issue in the lane. Both finished second in conditioned events last Sunday. Casimir Jubilee has the tactical advantage with more gate speed, but she will leave from post six for owner-trainer Brittany Bounds. Racsan Cyndee overcame a horrific journey to finish second for owner-trainer Danny Warrington.
Then just past the midway point of the card, Lark Seelster (Jonathan Roberts) and CC's Munchkin (John Gazzerro) will both seek their second straight tallies and fourth wins of the season in the featured non-winners of $8000 last five starts class for pacing fillies and mares. Lark Seelster has won three of six starts for trainer Luis Collazo, including last week's 1:53.4 tally at this level. CC's Munchkin has won three of eight helps at two weeks ago against slightly lesser. Junkyard Treasure (Roger Plante, Jr.)has won two straight against much lesser and will start from post eight here.
Then two races later in the 10th, give Cedar Hall Heiress (Milby) a chance for the minor upset despite drawing post eight. The four-year-old Riggins mare raced first over into a solid back half in the featured non-winners of $8000 last five class last week and double drops into the non-winners of $4000 last five condition. Little Miss Woohoo (Sean Bier) won at this level three starts back and has been unlucky in her last two, but gets post nine in the second tier.

In the sixth, the $15,000 Open Handicap pits Bad Boy Matt (Allan Davis), Special T Rocks (Ross Wolfenden), Bandolito (Daryl Bier), Just A Jolt (Victor Kirby), Vapour N (Pat Berry), Smart Rokker (Tony Morgan) and Sparky Mark (Jonathan Roberts). Sparky Mark won last week's Open in 1:52.1 for trainer Dylan Davis and now boasts three straight tallies at three different ovals, but he was essentially assigned post seven after taking the top class here one week ago from post four.
Smart Rokker won three straight conditioned events at Dover Downs before finishing second once and third twice in the ultra-tough Open/Preferred Handicap there before settling for seventh last week at The Meadowlands in an Open where Rockeyed Optimist and Always B Miki were one-two. Bad Boy Matt, a regular in the Delaware Special at Dover and an Open winner at Yonkers, gets the rail here and that could enable him to edge Open fixtures Just A Jolt and Bandolito, who returns north after wintering at Pompano Park in Florida.
Then one race later the $12,500 Open II looks like a three-horse affair on paper. Star Messenger (Kirby) and Captive Audience (Roberts) won split non-winners of $7501 last four conditioned events last Monday, albeit in dramatically different clockings of 1:52.4 and 1:51.1. Captive Audience recorded the fastest mile of the night by a full second and should be headed back to the top Open soon. Railbound Go Collect N (Davis) has feasted on lifetime foes for the past two months, but now gets an acid test against older Open rivals and figures to get overbet from his inside draw.
