Sunshine Millions Preview spot plays for Nov. 14

A total of five black-type races for Florida-bred runners are carded at Gulfstream Park West on Saturday. Originally, Preview Day was meant to have eight stakes events for Sunshine State runners, but the deluge of rain in recent times prompted racing officials to move the trio of turf events to next weekend. Here are spot plays for betting on the Florida races.

Classic Preview S.

One-mile endeavor attracted a compact field of five. Defending champ #4 Red Crescent is winless from five tries in 2020, but he is lone speed in the small cast. John Vinson pupil sports a solid 8-3-2-1 mark on the surface, and the Overdriven gelding gets the nod with Samy Camacho in the stirrups.

Juvenile Fillies Sprint S.

2-year-old fillies will run 6 1/2 furlongs on the main surface with six to go postward. #1 Sky Proposal showed a new dimension when rallying from off the pace last time out while defeating allowance foes at Pimlico. Kelly Breen trainee has been working in swift fashion in the interim, and the Liam’s Map filly will receive a good trip from the rail under Paco Lopez.

Sprint Preview S.

A talented field of seven will attend the 6-furlong dash. I am not sure if #3 With Verve can win the race, but the sophomore is the best closer in a cast with an abundance of pace in the field. Kantharos gelding, who captured the Hutcheson S. earlier this season, owns a win and a second from a pair of local assignments, and he has run well over ‘off’ surfaces, as well. The price should be right with Panici riding.

Juvenile Sprint S.

An octet of 2-year-old males will clash in a 6 1/2-furlong test. I have a pair of runners that I like for this heat, led by last-out maiden graduate #6 Tiz Handsome. Luis Carvajal pupil moved from the turf to the main oval in his latest showing and delivered like a nice prospect at Monmouth Park. Handsome Mike colt will thrive on the move in with Florida-bred foes.

Dr. Fager S. runner-up #2 Gatsby comes in fresh on the cut back in distance on Saturday. Juan Alvarado trainee has thrown in two clunkers from five career performances, but he can be quite good on his best day. And he ran arguably his best race over a sloppy surface, as well.

Distaff S.

The final of the five stakes races will feature an octet of fillies and mares traveling seven-eighths on the main surface. Stakes heroine #1 Sound Machine was a dominant debut winner in her lone run with state-bred foes leading up to Saturday. $500,000 daughter of Into Mischief was a sharp third in the Miss Preakness (G3) most recently, and her best effort will make her difficult to upend with Zayas in the silks.
