Terra Promessa tops Fantasy field

The biggest name in the race is Terra Promessa, who romped by 6 1/2 lengths in the March 12 Honeybee (G3) for trainer Steve Asmussen. The bay daughter of Curlin was making her stakes bow in that spot following a nine-length allowance victory to open her sophomore campaign on February 5. Ricardo Santana Jr. has been aboard for all of Terra Promessa’s starts and will be holding the reins on Saturday.
Cosmic Evolution is the only other runner from the Honeybee to show up for the Fantasy. The Lon Wiggins pupil led the way early in that sloppy track affair before fading to third, 11 lengths behind Terra Promessa. That was Cosmic Evolution’s first try past six furlongs and she’ll be looking to turn the tables on her rival with Ramon Vazquez taking the mount from the recently retired Calvin Borel.
Taxable brings a perfect two-for-two mark into the Fantasy after breaking her maiden at Churchill Downs by seven lengths last June and taking an allowance/optional claimer by two lengths on March 11 at Oaklawn. Corey Nakatani was aboard the Asmussen charge for her sophomore bow and will attempt to guide her to yet another victory.
Ready to Confess romped in her maiden by 6 1/2 lengths before taking an allowance/optional claimer to open 2016 by a half-length at Oaklawn. The More Than Ready filly made her stakes bow in the Martha Washington on February 6 and wound up a one-paced fifth on the wire. She’ll be looking for redemption in this spot with regular jockey Luis Quinonez in the saddle.
Florida Bird earned her only win against state-bred maiden-claiming rivals and has been unable to factor in two other starts against Arkansas-breds. She completes the Fantasy field along with Impasse, who is unplaced from three career starts thus far.
