One of his most accomplished horses is Tres Friends, winner of the $1 million Rainbow Futurity (G1) last July at Ruidoso Downs. His first call rider, Ricky Ramirez, will guide the son of Tres Seis in the sixth trial.
Several of the top 2-year-olds in the country are entered, including Mayleen Pyc, who won one of the first futurities of the year, the $241,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs. The daughter of top AQHA sire, Pyc Paint Your Wagon, will run in the fifth trial with New Mexico-based ride Esgar Ramirez aboard.
AQHA champion trainer Paul Jones, Juan Aleman, Judd Kearl, Cindi Keeton and Eddie Willis are other prominent horsemen preparing horses for the Texas Classic Futurity trials.
On Friday night, Lone Star Park will run six trials for the Texas Classic Derby, with All American Derby champion Apollitical Blood, one of the noted 3-year-olds entered.
