Rags to Riches Stakes Contenders
#1 INTRASSEOUS: Kinnon LaRose trainee was outrun behind a subsequent Grade 1 heroine at Monmouth Park last time and gets the rail for her second appearance at this venue. The dark bay daughter of Girvin will have blinkers on for the initial time and wouldn’t be a major surprise with a step forward under Brian Hernandez, Jr.
#2 WHARFIE: Top pick is one of two in the field for Godolphin and gets top billing in the affair. The Essential Quality homebred improved second time out with added ground with which to work with, and I feel that she has a high ceiling going forward. The April foal will have Junior Alvarado in the irons.
#3 OH SHE SAID YES: Authentic filly was a daylight winner at one mile on the grounds in her debut offering prior to finishing a distant third in the Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland second time out. The Kentucky-bred miss fits well for her local return and will have Jose Ortiz in the controls for the first time.
#4 COUNTTHETRUE: Dark bay daughter of Enticed ran her best race yet when graduating on the oval last time and will go out to a route event on this occasion. The homebred filly showed improved speed from the gate last time and could be forwardly placed today with Edgar Morales in the silks.
#5 LUNAR VELOCITY: Gray daughter of Essential Quality drew off to a commanding, 9 3/4-length victory in her second lifetime run and could be any kind in this spot. The March foal is proven going long and has the speed from the gate to be involved from the break against this crew, too. Francisco Arrieta inherits the mount.
#6 JUANA MARGARITA: Daughter of Greatest Honour showed vast improvement in a maiden claiming romp at Keeneland most recently and can’t be ignored on this occasion. McPeek trainee will face much better in her first run on the surface, but her last effort was a good one, and she could also appreciate the added ground with Emmanuel Esquivel in the irons.
#7 FIRST LAUGH: Upstart filly was never headed in a facile first-out victory in Indiana on debut and will make her stakes debut for trainer Brad Cox. The Godolphin homebred shows a pair of solid morning drills leading up to the affair, and she has every right to move forward in her second run going long on Sunday, as well. Irad taking the mount adds to her appeal.
