This weekend's horse racing tournaments' big winners
James Metzger won the Southwest Showdown, converting his starting bankroll of $750 into $8,695, which came along with a prize of $4,500 and seats into the BCBC and NHC. Then on Saturday, Matthew McJunkin won the Oaklawn Horseplayers Championship, converting his starting bankroll of $2,500 into $19,243, which came along with a prize of $10,000 and seats into the BCBC, NHC, and KDBC.
In the Sam F. Davis KDBC/NHC Qualifier at TwinSpires, David Feldman finished with a strong showing of converting a $500 bankroll into $4,504 and won an NHC seat. It was an incredible weekend for James Metzger, who finished second and won an NHC seat. Douglas Otani and Steven Simonovic each won KDBC seats, while Stephen Wolfson got a nice consolation of $3,000 for finishing fifth.
Upcoming Tournaments
This weekend highlights the $800 Risen Star KDBC Qualifier at Fair Grounds on Saturday. There will also be two different cash tournaments for that card, one for $100 and one for $40, so no matter what your price point is, there is a game for you
General Tournament FAQ
How do horse racing tournaments even work?
Horse racing tournaments operate differently than standard parimutuel betting. Instead of wagering against the track's house pool, players compete against one another to earn the highest bankroll or point total within a specific set of races.
