Trot Trail Travels Through The Meadows, Yonkers

The Meadows will host four divisions of the $167,318 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes (PASS) for colt and gelding trotters during their matinee card on Saturday, May 14.

Division one brings together three Hambo hopefuls: Tight Lines, Love Matters, and Southern Cross. While all three of them are among the top contenders in this affair, the best value should come from Southern Cross, making his seasonal debut off a sharp qualifier.

Split two gathers four Hambo eligibles: Sliding Home, Marion Gondolier, Mikkeli Hanover and Breedlove. Again, the hopefuls are the top contenders in the race but attractive prices should be on Sliding Home, debuting off improving qualifying efforts, and Marion Gondolier, entering off an aggressive mile in the PA All-Stars.

Hopeful Hititoutofthepark headlines the third division after going wire to wire in a division of PA All Stars last week. He’ll compete against four others aiming at August,: Milligan’s School, Desert Runner, Treasure Keys K and the value of the race, Granite State, whose most recent mile displays his improving form.

Alexander Hanover, Lagerfeld, and Hollywood Highway meet in the final division, all Hambo targeted. While Alexander Hanover will be a decent price and could bounce off the break in his debut last week, the potential value on Lagerfeld should not be ignored. Making his second start of the season, the colt will be in a prime spot to pounce on the pacesetter and kick away to victory.

Monday, May 16, Yonkers hosts filly trotters in four New York Sires Stakes splits. The first ($40,768) looks like a good spot for Lindylicious in the short field of six with no “Oaks” possibilities.

The second split ($40,768) Goosebump Hanover and Sweet Ashley T is the Oaks-eligible duo. “Ashley” goes for her second win and should take it easily, while “Goosebump” debuts at three.

The third division ($41,568) features Oaks-eligibles Zette Starlet and Earn Your Wings, that latter looking for win two of two and because she is in thick will offer a decent price in this field of seven.

Finally, in the last episode of the program, Fad Finance and Non Stick eye August and this lucrative purse ($41,568). Both debut at three but Fad Finance has the best shot at a win and a good price, coming from the Smedshammer barn, where first-crack performances are productive.
