Tuesday Cards Offer a Blend of Youth and Age
The Tuesday evening cards at Dover Downs in Delaware and Yonkers Raceway in New York are polar opposites on several levels, but onlookers will want to play close attention to consecutive races on the programs at both ovals for future reference.
Tuesday's feature at Dover is a non-winners of $100,001 lifetime class for pacing fillies and mares and the event includes a pair of budding stars on the circuit. Dismissal (Yannick Gingras) has won four of five starts and sports a 1:51 mark for trainer Doug Lewis, but she is also looking to rebound from a setback last week. Several spots to her outside is Barbara's Shadow (Victor Kirby) has won four of seven starts and banked $37,000 and taken a mark of 1:51.2 for trainer Leigh Raymer and handed Dismissal a defeat last week.
But those who are not convinced this conditioned event is a match race will give a glimpse to In The Shadows (Tony Morgan), who sports a modest 1-1-4 slate, $21.500 bankroll and 1:53.2 mark from eight starts this year and On Your Six (George Dennis) who has won once in six starts and earned $12,000 while taking a mark of 1:52. If either Dismissal or Barbara's Shadow fails to deliver on their promises at short prices then either In The Shadows or On Your Six could emerge victorious at a generous price.

Then one race later in the 10th, Rainbow Romance (Matt Kakaley) will seek his first win in three starts from post two, while Flem N Em N (Jason Bartlett) will look to crack the win column in his fifth outing from post four. Just to his outside is Stevensville, a former stakes caliber pacer who will make his 2017 debut. In the finale, much of the attention will be on railbound Artistic Night (Bartlett) will seek his first win in five tries after failing to hit the board in four previous outings against tougher.
Then peaking ahead to Wednesday at Dover where the emphasis will be on trotters, Market Share (Tim Tetrick) will loom the solid favorite in a non-winners of $9001 last six starts class from the rail for trainer Linda Toscano, while Guiltywithanexcuse (Bret Brittingham) arrives with a solid 4-3-0 slate, $25,000 bankroll and 1:53.3 mark from eight starts already this winter fr trainer Jim King, Jr.
Then one race later in a non-winners of three event for trotters, Dream Merchant (Tetrick) will look to maintain his winning ways when he leaves from post four for trainer Dylan Davis. Dream Merchant has won twice in four starts this year and boasts a solid 1:57.4 mark and he should be able to handle this group and continue climbing the class ladder on the Wednesday programs at the Delaware five-eighths mile oval.
